We are seeking qualified candidates for the position of Fitness Director at our property in Mesa, AZ. The successful candidates will oversee all resident and guest Fitness Programs as well as monitor fitness center usage.

Job Duties include:

  • Lead Boot Camp classes (up to 4 times weekly)

  • Coordinate annual St. Patrick's Day 5k run/walk

  • Conduct personal training sessions as requested by residents

  • Maintain all fitness center equipment

  • Coordinate Healthy Living Lecture Series booking any and all guest speakers and creating agenda

  • Work closely with activities staff as need (for specific events)

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 1-3 years experience in a fitness coach or director capacity

  • Knowledge of upkeep required for fitness center equipment and machinery

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Create Member Group Fitness experience. 3. Track usage. 4. Engages, refers and retains participants. 5. Teaches effective, safe and enjoyable exercise classes using proper exercise progressions, cueing techniques and incorporation of music (if applicable). 6. Demonstrates clear explanations and exercise material with proper form and technique. 7. Develops positive relationships with participants and provides motivational support and guidance. 8. Encourages member involvement and identifies potential volunteers. 9. Increases participant awareness of all healthy lifestyle factors. 10. Operates all equipment properly and promptly reports any problems. 11. Performs routine maintenance of equipment and exercise class space to ensure cleanliness. 12. Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary. 13. Attends staff meetings and trainings as required. 14. Obtains a substitute instructor when needed. Requirements 18 years of age or older. Current state approved first-aid and CPR certification. Demonstrated ability to teach group exercise. Current Silver Sneakers teaching certification and experience. Ability to instruct and observe participants using proper exercise techniques. Ability to motivate others in the areas of self-awareness and self-confidence. Possesses mature judgment and sound decision-making. Ability to communicate effectively. Must be observant, safety conscious and able to react calmly and quickly in an emergency 18 years of age or older. Ability to teach Group Fitness classes at a competent level.
