Job Overview

The Incumbent plans, manages and administers a comprehensive year-round base fitness and sports program.

Work Model: Onsite

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Plan and coordinate all aspects of activities and special events to make maximum use of facilities, services, and resources.

  • Provide recommendations to leadership for process improvement.

  • Determine adequacy of facilities, identify additional needs, and recommend facility construction/alteration and renovation projects.

  • Monitor repair and maintenance of existing facilities and equipment.

  • Keep abreast of advances and changes in the area of exercise physiology, life-style management, nutrition, and physical conditioning.

  • Provide timely and accurate administrative reports, projects, and correspondence.

  • Respond to requests within the timeline given from all levels of command.

  • Maintain and track all Satellite Fitness and Sports Centers, Unit Physical Training Facilities (UPTF), and Fitness Access.

  • Inspect satellite and UPTFs on an annual basis for health and safety compliance and that equipment meets DAF fitness and sports standards.

  • Prepare and maintain playing fields seasonally for all sports programs. Maintain indoor, outdoor courts and fields in a ready to use condition.

  • Support, schedule, and maintain records for sports leagues and tournaments. Organize and schedule leagues based on customer demand.

  • Plan, administer, organize, and schedule a wide variety of leagues, tournaments, and intramural sports.

  • Provide a long-range special event plan yearly with at least one (1) Fitness event per month.

  • implement a Sports and Advisory Council to serve as a fitness and sports advisory body.

  • Make available a wide variety of instructional classes to meet the diverse population.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:

  • Four (4)-year degree in exercise science or a related field.

  • Professional certification from a National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC).

  • Competency in business and the design and delivery of exercise programs.

  • Professional certification by an accredited health/fitness organization.

  • Three (3) years of experience in the fitness industry/field.

  • Ability to acquire and maintain government identification/common access card.

  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.

  • Valid state Driver's License with acceptable driving record pertinent to the position.

  • Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.

  • U.S. Citizenship.

  • Ability to obtain access to U.S. Government Installations through the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS).
