Do you want to work for a nationally recognized Parks & Recreation Department and gain experience in the exercise science/fitness management field?

Here you will work directly under the Fitness Manager to provide exercise guidance and assist with programs offered in our fitness room at our ever-expanding community center. If you are a degree seeking student in a exercise science program, this might be the position for you!

SUPERVISION

Work is performed under the direction of the Fitness Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF WORK

Provide exercise guidance to Fitness Room users. Includes initial orientation required of all new pass holders.

Demonstrate knowledge of each piece of cardiovascular and resistance machines to fitness room users.

Maintain equipment maintenance, which includes cleaning on a daily basis.

Monitor Fitness Room and Track during assigned work hours.

Develop and assist with programs offered in Fitness Room.

Assist with Community Center programs as needed.

Assist with informational displays.

Enforce all Fitness Room policies and procedures.

Work assigned staff hours.

Fill out accident reports when necessary.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF WORK

CPR Certification

Be able to lift up to 45 pounds

Undergraduate degree in exercise science/fitness management and/or in process of obtaining preferred.

Certification from an accredited organization, such as ACSM, ACE, AFAA, NDEITA or NSCA perferred.

RETIREMENT PENSION

The City contributes 14% monthly toward retirement benefits offered through the Ohio Public Employee Retirement System. The employee pension payment share is 10% of gross salary.

Personal Leave

Eligible for 24 hours of personal leave if more than 500 hours worked in previous calendar year.

Eligible for 40 hours of personal leave if more than 1000 worked in previous calendar year.
