The Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks is accepting applications for Fishing Center Attendant - Loch Raven Fishing Center Summer Seasonal Employment.

Location

Loch Raven Fishing Center 12101 Dulaney Valley Road, Phoenix, Maryland 21131.

Definition of Responsibility

This position is responsible for assisting in the operation of an assigned Fishing Center.

Examples of Duties

Job Purpose

Under direct supervision of the park ranger and/or assistant manager, the Fishing Center Attendant isresponsible for assisting in the operation of the

Loch Raven Fishing Center.

Essential Job Duties

• Attend to the needs of the fishing center patrons.

• Assist patrons with location and safe use of rental boats and motors.

• Encourage the proper use of trash receptacles and toilet facilities.

• Maintain fishing center facilities in a safe, sanitary and attractive condition.

• Prepare rental boats and equipment for use of patrons, including carrying 12 volt batteries.

• Perform painting, repairing and light grounds keeping at the fishing center as directed.

Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Training and Experience

Must be at least 16 years of age by April 1, 2024

Must be able to work weekends and holidays throughout the summer and have days off on the weekdays.

Must have reliable transportation.

Facilities are not located on public transportation lines.

Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications

Persons with a current Certified American Canoe Association Paddlesports Safety.

Facilitator (or equivalent) will receive special consideration.

American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED will receive special consideration.

Current CPR Certification will receive special consideration.

Water safety knowledge will receive special consideration.

Ability to interact with people in a helpful, courteous manner.

Those having the ability to work the entire season will be considered first.

Licenses and Certificates

Must have current CPR Certification by April 1, 2024

Conditions of Employment

Seasonal Non-Merit positions are not classified within the Baltimore County Government Classification and Compensation Plan.

Seasonal positions are not included in the Employees Benefits Plan.

Physical and Environmental Conditions

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Must have reliable transportation

Medical Examination and Employment Background Investigation

Applicants selected for employment with Baltimore County must successfully complete a physical examination, drug screening and employment investigation, including, but not limited to criminal background, education certification and fingerprinting checks.
