GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking to fill two (2) positions to assist with Kokanee, Brown, Brook, and Lake Trout spawning activities, fish culture duties, facility maintenance, and groundskeeping at the Wyoming Game and Fish Department's fish hatcheries. The position at the Tillett Rearing Station will be for 3.5 months, and the position for the Story Hatchery will be for 1+ months.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.

  • Duties will include but not be limited to, tank cleaning, fish feeding, fish distribution, fish spawning, egg care, and a variety of other fish culture activities.

  • These positions will also assist with maintaining the grounds, equipment, and buildings.

Qualifications

PREFERENCES:

Preference may be given to candidates holding or pursuing a career or degree in fisheries, wildlife, or resource management. Preference will be given to those with a high school diploma and one year experience in fishery and wildlife management or college course work towards a degree in fishery and wildlife management, biology, or ichthyology. Preference will be given to those who attach a resume with their on-line state application.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Groundskeeping (mowing & trimming), building maintenance (painting), small tool use, and general fish culture (cleaning tanks and feeding).

Necessary Special Requirements

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • These positions require working in various environmental conditions, using a variety of tools, and equipment, and some occasional lifting may be required.

NOTES:

  • FLSA: Non-exempt

  • Successful applicants for employment must pass a background check before appointment.

  • The two work locations are Tillett Rearing Station and Story Fish Hatchery.

  • Position start and end dates will be approximately as follows. Tillett will run from August 19, 2024, to November 30, 2024, and Story will run from October 1, 2024, to November 8, 2024.

  • Housing is provided at no charge to the employee.

  • No previous fish culture experience is required.
