WASHINGTON UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT CLASSIFICATION: FISCAL ANALYST SALARY RANGE: 46 GROUP: ACCOUNTING SERVICES DATE OF ADOPTION/REVISION: 01/22/09 DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the Director of Fiscal Services, plan, organize, manage, and perform complex and technical financial analysis involving District budget development and expenditure compliance monitoring; prepare a variety of County, State, Federal and District Financial Reports; provide support to District Administrators, and Program Directors. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES: Perform technical calculations and analysis for the preparation and maintenance of annual program budgets, budget revisions, interim reports, and year-end closing and audit. Perform monthly analysis and comparisons of program revenues and expenditures in relation to the approved budget. Work closely and cooperatively with program managers and site administrators to help prevent over-expenditures and advise them if a budget revision or reduction in expenditures is necessary. Receive, analyze and prepare budget revisions for submission to the Board of Education. Approve various expenditure requests after analysis to determine availability of budgeted funds, the propriety/appropriateness of the requested expenditure, approval by the responsible manager, and accuracy of the account coding. Assist in maintaining the position control system for the District. Prepare and maintain accounting schedules for construction projects. Prepare various reports for submission to State and Federal governments, County Office and board of trustees, and District administration. Develop spreadsheets used in the preparation of various financial reports, projections and analyzes. Assist in development and presentation of in-service programs to other District employees. Assist in the training of other budget staff. Perform related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of:

Lift 25 lbs maximum or carry any object weighing up to 15 lbs AND Training and experience: - A bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution with an emphasis in accounting or a related field and two years of governmental accounting experience desired. In the absence of a 4 year degree, a minimum of an Associates of Arts degree with at least 16 units in accounting. Additional school district business office accounting experience may be substituted for the required 4 year degree using the formula that two years of school district business office accounting experience equals 1 year of college for up to two years. Knowledge of California school business and finance is desirable. Licenses and other requirements: - Valid California Driver's License and personal automobile

Sits and operates a keyboard to enter data into a computer terminal for an extended period of time. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and 10-key. Reaches horizontally and above and below the shoulders. Bends and twists at the waist and kneels, stoops and/or squats to retrieve files and other materials.
