The salary range listed includes a general wage increase of 3% for all state employees effective July 1, 2024.

The Olympic Region of the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is looking for a Fiscal Analyst 1 to help in our busy fiscal department located in Forks, WA. The Fiscal Analyst 1 will assist with processing region payments to our vendors, collect, organize, and enter into AssetWorks the monthly equipment reports (MERs), and assist with payroll, bank deposits, and cash applications.Responsibilities:

Required Qualifications:
OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Successful completion of 15 credit hours of college-level accounting, auditing, or budgeting.
Experience with Payroll or Accounts Payable.
Basic knowledge of accounting principles.
Experience using professional automated accounting programs.
Ability to perform accurate work using knowledge of general accounting practices.
Experience with using computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel (2 years of experience in a professional setting).
Demonstrated ability in prioritizing and completing multiple assignments within required timeframes.
Demonstrated commitment to fostering and supporting an environment that honors diversity, equity, inclusion, and environmental justice practices.
Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations and public records retention and requests are followed.
Proficiency in using a ten-key calculator.

Special Requirements and Conditions of Employment:
This position works in an office setting in the Olympic Region in Forks, WA.
Travel for this position is minimal. Occasional travel for training or meetings outside the region may be needed. Travel may be needed for voluntary participation in fire activity outside of the region.
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting including 18 quarter or 12 semester credit hours of accounting or related field.
One year of government-oriented accounting system.
One or more years of lead or supervisory experience.
Knowledge of payroll processing.
Experience using the HRMS State Payroll System.
Experience using AFRS, FES, and/or NaturE.
Ability to research, interpret, and explain WAC, Collective Bargaining Agreements, agency policy and procedures, and other applicable regulations.
One year of government-oriented accounting.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both in writing and verbally.
Ability to present and communicate technical information.
Ability to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.
Ability to proofread, and to plan and organize workload.
Ability to prioritize work to meet inflexible and competing deadlines while dealing with constant interruptions.
