Job Description:
Performs all tasks and responsibilities of subordinate and "Cook" positions independently and very effectively. Assists Lead Cook by assuming responsibility of sub-systems on the production shift.
Typical tasks may include, but are not limited to:
Assists Lead Cook by anticipating needs and requesting supplies to ensure timely production.
Leads small groups in task accomplishment; trains, monitors, supports, and works with assigned personnel to assure timely and accurate completion of tasks.
Assists in recipe testing, noting recipe errors and recommending corrections/improvements.
Has complete knowledge of and assures adherence to all department standards including safety, sanitation and preventive maintenance.
Assists in instruction and training.
Can identify all meat, poultry and fish as received and prepare to department standards. Improves professional skills and demonstrates skills of Lead Cook. May assume basic tasks of Lead Cook in his/her absence or in smaller unit.
Maintains a neat, well-groomed, professional appearance.
Performs other tasks as requested.
Qualifications
Meets all qualifications of subordinate "Cook" position;
Is a skilled culinarian, capable of performing all production tasks efficiently and with minimal instruction or supervision;
Demonstrates organization skills and ability to handle complex tasks simultaneously;
Demonstrates effectiveness in teaching cooking skills and leading small groups in task accomplishment;
Demonstrates the highest standards of quality, sanitation, and safety.
Possesses a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community
