Lovelace Women's Hospital is a 53-bed advanced neonatal intensive care unit, family care unit, an award-winning breast care center and the first robotic surgery program in the state recognized as a Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery by Surgical Review Corporation.

Responsibilities
Registered Nurses practicing as first assistants in surgery are functioning in an expanded perioperative nursing role.
First assisting activities are further executed within the context of the nursing process and in accordance with the State Board of Nursing Practice and institutional policies.
RNFA activities commonly include: assisting the surgeon with exposure, hemostasis, closure and other intra-operative technical functions under the supervision of a surgeon.
Other activities may include certain delegated medical functions that can be assumed by the RN who is qualified to practice as an RNFA.
A RN license is required as well as RNFA Certification through the AORN Training/Certification Program.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
Minimum: Associate's Degree in Nursing or Diploma of Nursing and RNFA Certification through AORN
Minimum: 3 years of RN experience and 2 years of RNFA experience. The 2 years of RNFA experience may be part of the 3 years of RN experience
Valid NM Nursing license.
Require BLS. Successful completion of an RNFA program through AORN with Certification.
