You will directly contribute to Trust Automation's success by working on firmware design, development, and sustainment engineering for cutting-edge motion control and power conversion products.   • Firmware development for advanced motion control and power generation systems

  • Requirement derivation for embedded code development, integration and test

  • Control system design and analysis, applied to motion control and power management applications

  • Collaboration with the engineering team to advance drive and motor efficiencies

  • Contribution to technical planning for future product and/or custom application architecture

  • Participation in Trust Automation's design and development processes, including design and peer reviews

  • Contribute to project success by meeting deliverables on schedule and within budget

  • Assist with customer interaction and perform product and system demonstrations as needed

  • Sustainment and improvement of existing products and systems

  • Interface with customers to document bugs and new features

  • Develop code, test changes, and release updates to customers

  • Create and conduct regression testing prior to release


  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering

  • 2+ years of embedded systems/firmware design experience

  • Embedded programming skills in C, C++, and/or assembly

  • Able to read a schematic diagram

  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot system and circuit level issues

  • Ability to adapt to coding standards, workflows, and peer reviews in order to leverage and enhance existing code base

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative team environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to manage time effectively and work effectively with teammates and management


  • Closed-loop control of motor torque, speed, and position experience

  • Control system design and analysis experience (i.e. - PID control theory)

  • Familiarity with communication interfaces/protocols: SPI, I2C, Modbus, USB, CAN, RS232/RS422/RS485, Ethernet, EtherCAT

  • FPGA/Programmable Logic design experience

  • Familiarity with agile development processes

  • Awareness of the varied functions necessary to design and manufacture advanced products (Mechatronics, Digital and Analog Circuits, Materials, Integration, Documentation, etc)

Classes in this series perform a wide variety of professional field and office engineering work in the public works field; and do other related work as required.</p><p>The Water Resources Division of the San Luis Obispo County Public Works Department is seeking people energized about working with communities to solve water issues to fill two open positions. It is anticipated that one engineer will assist with feasibility study efforts associated with developing a regional desalination facility and optimizing the use of Salinas Dam/Santa Margarita Lake, and the other engineer will focus on advancing our County-wide Master Water Report and associated collaborative groundwater, watershed, flood and drainage technical planning efforts.</p><p>Placement and assignments will depend on qualifications and experience. Those who have qualifying water-related experience and a Civil Engineering license are encouraged to apply for the Engineer III position.</p><p>In general, engineers in the Water Resources Division are responsible for leading efforts to:</p><ul><li><p>understand the ability of our county's 19 unmanaged groundwater basins and 25 watersheds to sustainably provide a healthy water supply for the people, economy, and environment, now and into the future,</p></li><li><p>understand where drainage and flooding problems occur, or are projected to occur, under various hydrologic scenarios,</p></li><li><p>identify, evaluate and prioritize integrated strategies to address current or projected water supply and/or flooding/drainage problems</p></li><li><p>assist with the initial implementation of the strategies via the development of cooperative agreements, institutional structures and funding mechanisms</p></li></ul><p>These efforts involve developing and overseeing scopes of work, budgets and schedules for technical consultants, providing strategic direction to the consultant, reviewing and communicating progress of the technical information and associated recommendations in a way that builds trust with and best serves the decision makers, stakeholders, and members of the public impacted and involved.</p><p>If this position sounds interesting, you are encouraged to apply for this career opportunity.</p><p>Click here for a complete job description.</p><p>The Ideal Candidate</p><p>Distinguishing Characteristics</p><p>The Engineer III candidate will have knowledge and experience in land use-based analysis of water supply and demand, groundwater and watershed modelling concepts and applications, water supply projects/ programs alternatives analysis and/or implementation, and flood/drainage projects/programs alternatives analysis and/or implementation.</p><p>The ideal candidate will also have service-based leadership skills to facilitate decision making processes in a proactive and transparent manner. Certificate or Land Surveyor in Training (L.S.I.T.)
