HP is seeking a firmware development engineer to join its LaserJet printer R&D team in beautiful Boise, Idaho! As a firmware engineer in Boise, you'll join a high energy development team creating innovative solutions that are disrupting the print and copier markets. As a firmware engineer on our team, you'll apply basic foundation of a function's principles, theories and concepts to assignments of limited scope. Use professional concepts and theoretical knowledge acquired through specialized training, education or previous experience. Develop expertise and practical knowledge of applications within business environment. Act as team member by providing information, analysis and recommendations in support of team efforts. Work together with other engineers and architects to develop innovative solutions to challenging technical problems. Exercises independent judgment within defined parameters.

Responsibilities:

  • Codes and programs enhancements, updates, and changes for portions and subsystems of firmware, including application and driver level code.

  • Executes established test plans and protocols for assigned portions of code; identifies, logs, and debugs assigned issues.

  • Develops understanding of and relationship with local and worldwide development partners on firmware design and development.

  • Participates as a member of project team of firmware engineers to develop innovative, reliable, cost effective and high-quality solutions enterprise class printing products.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience or understanding of firmware design tools and languages.

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Understanding of firmware and hardware design principles.

  • Understanding of basic testing, coding, and debugging procedures.

  • Understanding of firmware development tools and infrastructure, including source control (GIT, Subversion, etc.), Application lifecycle management (Jira, TFS, etc.) and code integration in an enterprise development environment.

  • Expertise of firmware development languages such as C/C++ and C#

  • Good written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language.

  • Familiarity with database theory and web development, including SQL Server, JavaScript, HTML, MongoDB, JNode etc.

Managed NAND Test Firmware Test Engineer Leader As a Test Solutions Engineering leader you will lead a team responsible for the development of test programs and test methodologies with full and economic test coverage that enable the testing to advance Micron's technology, product and manufacturing roadmaps. Your role is also to ensure Process and Design have the feedback necessary to improve the technology and minimize time to market. Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to * Directly leading a team of 3 experienced test engineers in Boise and be the functional leader to a team in India. * Develop "Micron Test Firmware"(MTFW) and test methodologies to ensure coverage is compliant to Managed NAND(UFS & eMMC) device spec. * Coordinate program activities related to product issues, driving root cause and corrective action closure * Work closely with engineering teams to identify process matching issues during all phases of product life and drive for solutions. * You will develop, communicate and lead Area Performance Goals with all team members * Train, mentor, and develop your team. Manage performance and provide regular feedback. * This is a technical leadership position. We need technical leaders that can also build an innovation environment. This includes helping to drive DFT (design for test) features, finding ways to decrease the overall testing cost, improve the test coverage and efficiency. To be successful, you need the following skills and experience * Extensive knowledge of program structure (API based) * A deep understanding of UFS/eMMC/NAND device, testing and failure modes * The ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multifaceted, environment. * Demonstrate Data analysis and analytical problem-solving skills * Attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to balance multiple projects * Technology leadership and innovative contributions on prior projects * Good programming skills with knowledge of any of the following is desirable: C/C++/Python. * Knowledge of ARM/ARC controllers and compilers is a plus * Familiarity and/or experience with the Agile methodology and tools like JIRA, Git, BitBucket, and Confluence Required Education Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. At least five years of engineering experience, preferably in either testing or product.
