The FY2024 Fire Department Step Plan can be accessed here.Applicants hired who already hold the Paramedic certification will be hired at step 1 of the Paramedic pay range. Applicants hired who are a Firefighter/EMT or who are working to obtain Paramedic certification will be hired at step 1 of the EMT pay range and will move to the Paramedic pay range once certification is obtained.

Recruitment Process:
1.Online Application - deadline is 07/15/2024 at 5:00pm CST
2.Physical Agility Examination - tentatively scheduled for 07/17/2024 and 07/18/2024
Applicants who pass the preliminary background check will receive an email invitation to take the physical agility examination. Only applicants who are invited will be allowed to sit for the examination.
Candidates will be able to schedule individual dates and times to test, if invited.

Personal History Statement packets will be issued at the time of the physical agility examination. The packet must be filled out correctly and completely and will not be accepted past the deadline, which will be specified at a later date.

Minimum Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age on the date of the physical agility examination
Must be a U.S. citizen
For out-of-state applicants, you must be registered or have filed with TCFP for fire certifications, and either TDSHS or National Registry for Paramedic certifications. This must be done by the close of the job posting to be considered for eligibility.
If you are a Firefighter/Paramedic, you must have certification through TCFP, as well as either TDSHS or the National Registry.
If you are a Paramedic only, you must have certification through TDSHS or the National Registry.
Certified Paramedics who are eligible to challenge the National Registry and receive reciprocity for TDSHS Paramedic certification will be allowed to test, provided they obtain TDSHS Paramedic certification or proof of eligibility prior to employment.
If you are a Firefighter/EMT, you must have certification through TCFP, as well as either TDSHS or the National Registry.
If you are a Firefighter only you are not eligible to participate in the Rowlett Fire Department recruitment process for 2024.
If you are an EMT only you are not eligible to participate in the Rowlett Fire Department recruitment process for 2024.
Other Requirements
Must successfully complete all phases of the employment process as scheduled, including a physical agility test, polygraph examination, oral interview, stress test and drug screen. A work schedule of 48 hours on, 96 hours off is required. Mandatory holiday and weekend work.
