Salina Fire Department

Duties: Responds to fire alarms & other emergency calls to protect life & property by combating, extinguishing & preventing fires; gives basic life support to sick or injured persons; participates in fire prevention programs, inspection, training activities, maintenance of fire & EMS apparatus & equipment & stations.

Education: High school diploma or G.E.D.

Certification Requirements:

• Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) within prior year

OR Salina Physical Ability Test (PAT) during hiring process.

• National Incident Management System (NIMS) 100, 200, 700, 800 certifications.

• National Registry or Kansas EMT certification.

• Fire Service Examination with a minimum score of 70% within prior two (2) years OR Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Fire Science or Emergency Medical Services from an accredited college or university.

• Firefighter I and Firefighter II with Hazmat Operations certifications in Kansas OR Equivalent International Fire Service Training Association (IFSAC), or ability to obtain within one (1) year from start date of employment.

• Pro Board Certification

Requirements:

• Must be eighteen (18) years of age at start date of employment.

• Must possess valid Kansas driver's license.

• Must obtain a valid Kansas Class B commercial driver's license (CDL) within one (1) year of from start date of employment.

• Successful candidates are prohibited from smoking or using tobacco products at any time, on or off the job.

Starting Pay: $47,029-49,388/yr. DOQ

Paid Time Off:

• 67.2 hours of vacation available upon hire; additional 67.2 hours earned during the year (134.4 hours in first year).
• 134.4 hours of sick leave during first year.
