FIRE SYSTEMS AND SECURITY SPECIALIST Ill

JOB GOAL
Provide quality installation, repair and maintenance of all district related special systems such as fire systems, intercom systems, security systems, and IP camera surveillance systems.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 5 years' experience in a related field troubleshooting fire, security, intercom, and IP camera systems or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Possesses great verbal and written communication skills.
Strong customer service skills in responding to requests for services.
Good organizational and administrative skills.
Proficient in the use of standard office software.
Ability to establish and maintain a productive working relationship with the school sites, support staff and product vendors.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains and/or repairs and provides technical support for alarm panels, fire system sensors, and peripheral equipment to fire/alarm panels.
Checks, repairs, and replaces: District security pad station, smoke detectors, heat detectors, fire alarm bells, pull stations and panels on a preventative maintenance schedule.
Provides recommendations, layouts and probable costs concerning materials and equipment to be installed.
Repairs and maintains special systems such as intercoms, security alarm systems, fire protection and video surveillance systems.
Estimates cost of each project, materials and labor hours.
Inspects all facilities on a regular basis to assure all equipment and systems are in acceptable condition. Advise supervisor of same.
Maintains an accurate and comprehensive maintenance file, equipment inventory file, parts inventory and materials necessary to facilitate a rapid repair of equipment and an accurate preventative maintenance file.
Evaluates work orders and determines material needs and cost to complete projects as assigned.
Proficiently supply supervisor with information to create requisitions to acquire materials and supplies needed.
Performs triage for more complex problems.
Responds to calls for assistance; travels to work sites; assesses, diagnoses, analyzes problems and troubleshoots and tests alternative methods for support and connectivity.
Travels to user sites to install and configure hardware to include training users on operations of new equipment and software and troubleshooting reported problems.
Maintains files, records and databases of maintenance logs, work orders, supply inventory, materials and tools utilized in the support of the workstations.
Performs additional job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Assists other personnel as may be required for supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
Positions in this class typically require: stooping, reaching, pulling, lifting, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. Often working from a heightened or lofted position. May occasionally work on a lift to access hardware.
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Assists and trains less experienced personnel.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county and city statutes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Knowledge of applicable Cartwright School District and departmental policies and procedures.
Knowledge of security and fire alarm systems.
Knowledge of intercom systems and related components.
Knowledge of IP camera surveillance systems and related components.
Knowledge of basic electronics and their components.
Knowledge of technical journals and manuals utilized in the installation and maintenance of devices and hardware.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, vendors, the general public and others having business with the school district.
Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications.
Fundamental knowledge of TCP/IP
Knowledge of the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) and the City of Phoenix fire code.

Reports To: Assistant Director of Information Technology

POSITION FTE: 9.5 hours per day
