What you will do

A Fire Alarm Service Technician is a troubleshooter and service expert. Alleviates concerns the customer may have regarding a Fire Alarm system. Advises customers of the status of the systems and processes of inspections.

How you will do it

  • Locate and alleviate trouble with damaged equipment or wiring.

  • Readjust equipment, repair or replace inoperative equipment and test for operation.

  • Read blueprints, building and electrical plans in order to complete equipment repairs.

  • Prepare trouble order forms to report temporary repairs.

  • Coordinate inspections and/or installations with police, fire departments, or other appropriate agencies.

  • Performs inspections of security, close circuit television, Access Control and fire alarm systems based on NFBA, Local codes and contract requirements.

  • Assists service technicians with system repairs and completes minor repairs including battery replacement.

  • Tests operation of system to the signal-receiving center to properly establish service connectivity.

  • Complete all forms accurately such as the NFPA 72, TycoIS and customer paperwork as required.

  • Manage and schedule daily, weekly and monthly contracted inspections as assigned to ensure monthly inspections are completed as scheduled for the calendar month.

What we look for

Preferred:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Minimum 2 - 5 years' experience installing and inspecting/repairing Tyco IS or comparable product line

  • NICET I or II

  • Ability to read blue prints and schematic drawings.

  • Ability to operate hand and power tools.

  • Ability to unload ladder from fleet vehicle and climb ladder.

  • Ability to operate fleet vehicle in a safe manner at all times.

  • Ability to communicate and provide excellent customer service.

Other:

Experience working on Low Voltage systems

Able to climb ladders and or scaffolding

Able to lift and carry equipment and tools

  • Valid driver's license.

Perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet or more. * Maintain a clean and safe work area. Pick up and properly dispose of all trash associated with SimplexGrinnell work. Wear appropriate safety equipment as required including bump cap and safety toed boots. * Properly secure all SimplexGrinnell tools and equipment at the end of each work period so as to prevent damage or loss. * Have computer skills - Word, Excel, Outlook. * Complete and submit time reports and other documents as required. * Bring to the immediate attention of the dispatcher/supervisor of all changes, discrepancies and coordination problems that impair activities or schedules. * Working alternate shifts or weekends to meet customer service on call requirements is required. * Perform other duties as directed. What we look for Required * 3-5 years of experience in the industry. * Working knowledge of wet, dry and pre-action sprinkler systems, and fire pump systems a must. * Must have a clean driving record. * Follow verbal and written instructions * High School Diploma, or equivalent Preferred * NICET * Sprinkler and Backflow license a plus or must be obtained.
