Under general supervision, prepares lesson plans and teaches classroom instruction for credit courses in the School of Public Safety.
Instruction will include both lecture and laboratory activities and may involve internet courses. Additional duties include advising and mentoring students; textbook selection; updating curriculum; and developing instructional materials. The faculty must possess the ability to teach all phases of the Fire Science curriculum. The successful candidate may also be required to teach other Public Safety courses, and will report to the Division Chair.
To meet the needs of our students, the instructor will be required to teach courses during the day, evening, and weekend hours.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Fire Science, Fire Science Administration, Emergency Services Management, or closely related field and 5 years in field experience within the past 10 years.

The candidate must possess a comprehensive knowledge of the Firefighter profession including the relationship to other professions in the public safety field. Experience must include the competencies, skills and knowledge levels the faculty will be expected to teach. Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communications and people skills. A flexible work schedule is necessary, as classes maybe taught during day, evening and Saturday periods.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: All the Minimum Requirements plus:
Experience in teaching/advising/mentoring college-level students with broad, diverse backgrounds is desired. Knowledge of Angel (Learning Management System) is desirable.
Minimum qualifications for this position will be determined by the teaching discipline and compliance with appropriate accrediting bodies. Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the course assigned.
