The Fire Protection Designer will assist engineers and project managers with general supervision in the development of plans and specifications on a number of concurrent projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design and lay out engineering drawings under the supervision of a Senior Designer, Engineer,

  • Senior Engineer, or Project Manager.

  • Take conceptual rough plan mark-ups and create final design documents, under the supervision of a Senior Designer, Engineer, Senior Engineer, or Project Manager.

  • Perform calculations and utilize various Microsoft and Third Party software packages related to the design as directed by Engineers, Senior Engineers, or Project Managers.

  • Assist in the preparation of studies by performing field surveys, documenting existing conditions, and recommending various design solutions.

  • Perform CAD functions proficiently in discipline.

  • Perform equipment takeoffs for calculation and estimating purposes.

  • Perform construction inspections and document conditions that require remediation.

Qualifications

  • Must have 0 to 10 years' experience developing plans and specifications in technical specialty.

  • Formal training in AutoCAD preferred with experience in a consulting engineering firm.

  • Must be proficient in the operation of a computer and AutoCAD; Revit experience is a plus.

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills along with experience using

  • Microsoft Office products.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week on Monday Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm), with the ability to work on-call and extended hours (including after hours, holidays and weekends). The job is performed primarily in an indoor office environment with occasional driving to commercial and institutional job site locations and outdoor activities at the site (including mechanical rooms, rooftops, and buildings). Responsibilities * Lay out engineering drawings using AutoCAD/Revit. Transfer the design from verbal or written instructions to CAD/Revit under the supervision of an engineer, senior engineer or project manager. * Take engineer's rough plan mark-ups and modify or finalize design documents using AutoCAD/Revit. * May perform field surveys to determine existing conditions. * May assist with engineering calculations as directed by engineering staff. * Produce drawings in AutoCAD/Revit from marked-up, not-to-scale drawings provided by engineers. * Other duties may include cutting/trimming of plans, blueprint making, photocopying, plotting, scanning, packaging, mailing, and other miscellaneous duties which may be required from time to time to assist in the smooth operation of the firm.
