JOB SUMMARY

Primary responsibility will be to identify and mitigate fire hazards, assess risk, and develop and implement fire safety plans to minimize the potential for fire-related incidents.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Schedule and conduct inspections and re-inspections of buildings for violations of fire codes and local regulations as directed.

  • Submits and maintains inspection records and reports.

  • Perform fire extinguisher maintenance and service as required.

  • Inspects fire detection and alarm systems to determine if they are tested and maintained as required.

  • Inspects fire suppression systems to determine if they are tested and maintained as required.

  • Provide installation-wide fire prevention training, lectures, and demonstrations to educate patrons on fire safety.

  • Delivers fire safety briefings for incoming personnel and installation activities to inform them of fire prevention techniques.

  • Conducts training of firefighters in basic fire inspection methods to keep them abreast of fire regulations.

  • Explain fire codes to help design professionals, contractors, and others avoid and/or correct code violations.

  • Conduct plan reviews for new construction and projects in accordance with NFPA requirements.

  • May be needed to provide logistical support to the fire suppression personnel during emergency operations.

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prefer 3 years overseas civilian deployment experience.

  • At least five years of relevant fire inspector experience is desired.

  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to develop effective working relationships.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.

  • Communicates effectively in writing, on the telephone, and in person.

  • IFSAC or ProBoard certifications to include Fire Inspector II, Fire Instructor I, and HazMat Awareness.

  • Preferred IFSAC or ProBoard certifications: Public Fire and Life Safety Educator, Plans Examiner I, and/or Fire Investigator.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK CONDITIONS

  • Physical requirements may include lifting up to 35 lbs., team lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing, extended standing, stretching, or bending.

  • Willing to be flexible regarding working hours and respond quickly to time sensitive or urgent requirements.

  • Ability to live and work in harsh climatic and austere living conditions to include the potential for moderate to extreme physical danger.
