FIRE MEDIC (Firefighter/Paramedic) salary is $49,144.26 annually, which includes F.L.S.A. Once Paramedic solo status is obtained, the salary increases to $52,278.46. Typically shift work: 24 hours on/48 hours off. Performs experienced protective service work controlling, extinguishing, and preventing fires, and performing Advanced Life Support (ALS) at emergency scenes.
*All applicants must not have been users of tobacco products for at least one (1) year immediately preceding their application for employment as a firefighter with Brevard County Fire Rescue, and shall be required, as an absolute condition of continued employment, to refrain from smoking cigarettes, cigars, pipes, or use of any type of tobacco products of any kind (including smoking cessation products) at all times, whether on or off duty.
REQUIREMENTS: Must possess on the date of written testing, a valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) card from an approved agency PLUS a valid State of Florida Paramedic certification and both certifications must be maintained during the term of employment. Applicants must possess on the date of written testing a Florida State Fire Fighter Certificate of Compliance or Letter of Completion from the State of Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training. Must possess a valid Florida Driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment.
*Copies of all required certifications and licenses must be presented at the time of written test administration.
Information regarding the written test date, time, and location will be emailed to qualified applicants two (2) weeks prior to testing dates, which are currently scheduled for Friday, June 21, 2024 and Saturday, June 22, 2024. The tentative hiring date for candidates who successfully complete all required pre-employment testing for this hiring process is Monday, August 19, 2024.
