Public Agency Resources (PARS), a subsidiary of Willdan, has an opening for a Fire Inspector in the Marion County, FL area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • The fire inspector will be responsible for inspections of residential, commercial, industrial and other buildings during and after construction.

  • In coordination with the Deputy Fire Marshal, coordinate inspection assignments.

  • Work collaboratively to ensure plan reviews, permits and other assigned work is completed timely and correctly.

  • Inspect structures and check plans to obtain code and ordinance compliance in all occupancy classifications as they relate to new construction, fire extinguishing systems, fire alarm systems, weed abatement, special events, complaints and related fire/life safety issues.

  • Interpret and enforce provisions of fire prevention, fire and life safety laws, codes, ordinances and other regulations.

  • Prepare and maintain records and reports.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures.

  • Perform periodic and follow-up inspections of new and existing buildings, structures and installations requiring Fire Department clearances.

Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Florida Fire Safety Inspector I and Fire Safety Inspector II certifications.

  • Minimum of three years experience in annual inspections with fire department in restaurants, factory, warehouse, and office environments.

  • Ability to life and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

  • ICC Certification as Fire Inspector highly desirable.

  • Thorough knowledge of state and local codes.

  • Municipal experience.
