Students attending high school or college can gain experience working part-time with the Midland Fire Department
Essential Job Duties:
This program allows students the opportunity to work in several areas of the Fire Department, including operations, training, fire prevention and investigation/inspection.
Physical and Environmental Conditions:Ability to sit, stand and move self to various buildings.
Must be enrolled in high school or posses a high school diploma or GED.
Be at least 17 years of age and have not reached their 25th birthday.
Posses a valid Texas driver license.
Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
Meet any and all other requirements for employment with the City of Midland
Demonstrate and interest in the fire and/or emergency medical services through previous or curren volunteer experience, educational history, and/or other means.
IF HIGH SCHOOL ENROLLED
Must be a student in good standing.
Maintain good attendance and grades.
Remain enrolled until graduation.
Enroll and maintain a minimum of nine (9) semester college hours during each of the fall and spring semesters. Remedial or non-credit labs do not qualify toward the nine (9) hour minimum.
Maintain a G.P.A. of 2.0 for all course work.
