Fire Alarm Service Technician (Job Number: 1017)

We are seeking a Fire Alarm Technician to join our federal team based at Fort Liberty, NC (formerly known as Fort Bragg. Military friendly, but experience not required). This role is responsible for diagnosing problems and performing service and repair work on electronic fire alarm systems and products across the base.

Pay Range: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour based on experience Â

Benefits: Eligible for benefits on first day of employment

Vacation: 3 weeks of paid vacation, 5 sick days, 3 floating holidays and 10 standard holidays per calendar year (6.5 weeks in total)

Travel: None, all work is based at this location.

As a Fire Alarm Technician, you will:

Â

• Under direct supervision, completes troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, commissioning, and in some cases, programming, of fire alarm systems per contract obligations

• Assists experienced personnel with solutions to systems problems, either troubleshooting the system or advising others on how to resolve problems working with fire products, software and systems electrical technology.

• Follows prescribed troubleshooting procedures and refer to technical manuals, part manuals, change notices and bulletins, modification notices, etc. to repair equipment.

• Assists in performing required commissioning documentation. Provide accurate information for as-builts documentation.

• Conducts testing to ensure proper operation of equipment after installation or repairs

• Adheres to safety standards and local and national codes, with a high degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.

• Maintains appropriate local and National Fire Industry Certifications.

• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics and operational product manuals

• Communicates with customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site. Continuous proactive customer interactions including an in-depth understanding of customer(s) needs wants and systems currently in place.

• Completes paperwork and on site documentation as required.

• Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding through communication devices, such as smart phones and laptop computers.

• Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• NICET II level certification; level III preferred

• 2+ years experience with commercial fire alarm or fire suppression systems

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics and operational product manuals

• Knowledge of test equipment, multi-meter, digital analyzer, and commissioning devices

• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, while establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.

• Basic computer skills

• The ability to perform physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs

• The ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearance to support this site required. (This involves a background/character, criminal history, employment, and credit check.)

• Electronics certification from an accredited technical school or military electronics training preferred.
