Viking Automatic Sprinkler is growing! Because of that growth, we are seeking qualified applicants for an open fire alarm & detection technician position. The function of this position is to provide reliable, high quality customer support through on-site inspecting, installing, repairing and/or replacing fire alarm equipment as well as conducting preventive maintenance services pertaining to many different manufacturer's equipment.
Some of the types of Fire Detection / Suppression Systems we deal with include:
Clean Agent Gaseous fire suppression systems for critical rooms such as computer rooms, server rooms, telecommunications, control rooms, electrical rooms and other mission critical spaces. These fire systems are often computer-based utilize special fire control panels, detection & controls, air sampling smoke detection, video imaging detection, linear heat detection, and clean agent gas fire suppression that is safe for people and sensitive equipment.
Fire detection and control systems for industrial applications relating to power generation, iron ore mining, and the paper / wood industry.
Specialty Fire Detection Systems for Industrial and Commercial applications that protect process equipment, conveyors, mining equipment, buildings, CNC machines, and other applications.
Computer based intelligent fire alarm & fire suppression systems
Limited amounts of security and access control systems
Other specialty fire and explosion suppression systems
Job Responsibilities
Tests all equipment after installation or repairs made to ensure performance of system
Work in compliance with the Company's safety manual with safety of self and others in mind at all times
Use company software to input testing results. All work completed on iPads; some minimal technology skills needed
Analysis and troubleshooting of fire alarm systems including Ground-Faults, Shorts, Wire Integrity, Termination, Panel, Fuses, Battery Testing and much more
Program dialers for monitoring. Phone line traditional and cell phone monitoring skills needed
Complete basic repairs and installations including moves, adds, relocates for all types of systems and devices
Complete final reports and deficiency reports
Interact with clients, field personnel and fire marshals
Analysis of blueprints
Coordination with other disciplines, engineers, general contractors and end users
Daily communications with Project Manager and/or Schedule Coordinator on inspection or project delays, requirements and general status of jobs
Responsible for training apprentices on Company procedures, systems inspection and installation techniques
All work is performed to NFPA and Company standards with quality inspection and installation techniques practiced
Works with Project Manager, Schedule Coordinator and Office Administrative Staff to ensure complete closeout and turnover of jobs to the client (Ensure that work is completed so it can be billed in full)
Job Qualifications
Knowledge of NFPA codes is required
NICET I Certification within 1 year of employment
NICET II Certification within 1 year after NICET I is achieved
PLT licensing with experience
High School Diploma/ GED required
Fire Alarm Service Experience required
Manufactures certifications are preferred
Field installation experience is a plus
Solid knowledge of NFPA 72, 2001, Factory Mutual and applicable codes is preferred
Possess an understanding of expenses and scheduling
OSHA 30 or MSHA is a plus
Ability to pass a post-offer drug test, background and reference check
