The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk.

This Enterprise Risk Consultant 4 will play an important role in Wells Fargo's model risk management by contributing to oversight for the areas of Liquidity Risk, Capital Planning, Operational Risk Capital, Financial Planning and Financial Performance Management. This position will be a part of the Treasury & Corporate Finance Oversight (TCFO) team and will be a part of the Corporate Functional Model Oversight (CFMO) function for all TCFO oversight areas in concert with subject matter experts within the team. In particular, this position will focus on liquidity risk models.

Responsibilities for this position will include, but not be limited to, the following:

Provide CFMO coverage for quantitative and qualitative models across all oversight areas previously mentioned. This includes such responsibilities as review and challenge of model changes, model exceptions, risk ranking changes, performance monitoring plans and results.

In collaborations with the liquidity SMEs on the team: Assist in the effort to credibly challenge internal liquidity stress test assumptions at the enterprise level.

Assess rationales and approaches designed and implemented by the front line to comply with regulatory requirements in areas such as the LCR, RLAP, and RLEN to identify risks and opportunities.

Perform an independent assessment of inputs, assumptions, and judgment within models

Lead challenge meetings with the Front Line and present results of review and challenge to Senior Management, Committees, and Wells Fargo Audit as necessary.

Collaborate with Corporate Model Risk to ensure continued compliance with the Model Risk Policy as the independent risk management function for oversight areas previously mentioned.

Build and maintain effective working relationships with the Front-Line, other IRM, Wells Fargo Audit and Regulatory stakeholders.

Maintain an independent and informed opinion regarding the current model risks of the Company as well as regulatory guidance.

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: risk, audit, finance, analytics and reporting; or a BS/BA degree or higher in Business, Finance, Statistics, and Economics and 4+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: risk, audit, finance, analytics or reporting

Desired Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) skills

  • Ability to coordinate completion of multiple tasks and meet aggressive time frames

  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision in a structured environment

Other Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience with Modeling of Finance Models

  • Previous experience with OCC 2011-2012

Operational Risk Business Oversight (ORBO) The ORBO team is responsible for aggregated business oversight and challenge of the each front-line business unit within Wells Fargo. This team does targeted reviews of realized and emerging risks to identify opportunities to strengthen risk management practices related to controls. The team's mission is to drive improvement in operational risk management effectiveness and performance through comprehensive oversight of the front line, proactive independent risk reviews, and delivery of actionable Independent Risk Management (IRM) analytics and intelligence that support oversight and credible challenge activities. This Operational Risk Business Oversight Sr. Officer is responsible for the independent oversight of front line operational risk management effectiveness of the Consumer Lending Shared Services businesses. This individual contributor is recognized as an industry or subject matter expert in operational risk. The role is expected to engage with senior business and risk leaders within the business to influence and challenge risk management activities and decisions. Operational risk is the risk resulting from inadequate or failed internal controls and processes, people and systems, or resulting from external events. Operational risk is inherent in all Wells Fargo products and services as it often arises in the presence of other risk types. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring risk-based programs to identify, assess, and mitigate any operational risk that arises from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, systems or external events, while maintaining a balance between risk mitigation and operational efficiency. This role will support the Consumer Lending Shared Services Operational Risk Business Oversight Leader with all matters pertaining to operational risk and is considered a thought leader and subject matter expert for operational risk activities across this business grouping. In this capacity, this role reviews and challenges significant front line operational risk program execution, including, but not limited to, external fraud, information risk management, safety and physical security, transaction processing and execution, third-party risk management and various risk assessment policies and programs. This role will also develop detailed understanding of business strategy, the customer base, products and services and other relevant industry issues, frameworks and emerging risks. Specific responsibilities include: * Use subject matter expertise and industry knowledge to provide independent oversight and credible challenge to the Line of Business's operational risk management activities related to the Shared Services functions of the Consumer Lending Business including Consumer Lending Business Services (CEO Support, business planning and outcomes, expense initiatives, strategic opportunities, resource strategy, employee experience), Governance (audit/testing, new business initiatives, policy management, self-assurance, and risk evaluation) and Consumer Lending Shared Services (similar to Consumer Lending but unique to Shared Services). * Implementation and sustainability of the Wells Fargo Operational Risk Management framework within the Consumer Lending business including the critical elements of Risk Governance, the Risk Management Lifecycle (plan, identify and assess, control, monitor and report, and test and validate), and Risk Enablers * Direct engagement with the Shared Services team, Control Executive team, Business Heads and Independent Risk leaders to promote a strong operational risk culture * Active engagement in key front line governance routines inclusive of strategic planning sessions, governance committees and business reviews * Oversee and challenge the front line across all operational risk routines including - plan, identify and assess, control and mitigate, test and validate, monitor and report * Perform independent risk assessment of the front line, inclusive of emerging risks * Review and challenge of front line risk acceptances and new business initiatives * Designs and develops the most complex testing strategies, methodologies and analyses; evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, systems and internal controls * Influence appropriate risk management prioritization by the front line to enable the business to meet strategic objectives, while meeting operational risk program expectations * Works with the most complex business units and provides operational risk expertise and consulting for projects and initiatives with high risk, generally spanning multiple business lines. * Evaluate cross-program and cross-group analytics to identify opportunities and best practices to influence stronger risk management practices by the business * Analyzes extremely complex business and/or system changes to determine impact * Identifies operational risk issues and may participate in the development of risk ratings * Reports findings and develops business cases to influence executive management or management committee member/head of business on the need for controls to mitigate risk. * Direct Independent Risk Management (IRM)-sourced issues to front line leadership as needed * Provide a business-centric view to IRM Risk Programs as needed Preferred locations for this position are Charlotte, NC; Minneapolis, MN; Des Moines, IA; New York, NY; Phoenix, AZ; Saint Louis, MO; Dallas, TX.
