Position Description

This role supports the financial planning, analysis and reporting tasks within the McKesson Life Sciences in particular supporting Specialty Pharmacy. The role will model, analyze and communicate key metrics and drivers of the business with clear ability to create insightful analysis, particularly as it relates to the business unit, revenue, profit and resource requirement measures. This role is expected to handle pharmacy leadership's financial analysis requirements in a fast paced and demanding environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Analysis, Modeling and Reporting

  • This position is expected to provide timely, relevant and accurate analytics to management to facilitate decision-making objectives including daily tracking reports, operational metrics and cost center variance analysis.

  • Develop high-quality Excel based financial models and other ad-hoc financial analysis to support decision making such as sensitivity/scenario analysis, resource requirement modeling and cost controls with limited oversight.

  • Understand and communicate variance analysis against historical, budget, forecasts and strategic plans.

  • Maintain forecasting, budgeting, and actual performance models.

  • Business Partnership

  • Work collaboratively with groups across various geographies and provide value-added analysis to the business leaders.

  • Communicate analytical results verbally, in writing and in presentation form to all levels of management.

  • Ad Hoc Request / Special Projects

  • Initiating and carrying out special financial or planning projects of varying nature and complexity with limited supervision by clarifying objectives and assumptions or making appropriate judgments where necessary.

  • Participate in process improvement initiatives or projects related to business unit objectives.

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years accounting, finance, finance analytics or similar experience

  • Insurance or pharmacy finance support (Preferred)

Critical Skills

  • Complex problem solving, analytical and financial modeling skills - ability to identify the root cause of issues, propose possible solutions or improvements and influence ultimate decision.

  • Ability to work with and communicate with all organization levels, including senior management; ability to present and explain financial information to non-finance professionals.

  • Project Management experience is required with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize appropriately to meet competing deadlines.

  • Advanced Excel, Proficient PowerPoint.

Additional Skills

  • Prior experience in management reporting

  • Thorough knowledge of finance policies, practices and systems.

  • Excellent knowledge of financial statements.

  • Large ERP system experience desired (SAP, Hyperion, TM1, Cognos, Essbase, etc)


  • Bachelor Degree preferred in finance or related field of equivalent experience

Summary: The business analyst for US controlling is responsible for accounting, forecasting, and reporting the results of all US Commercial functions. The analyst will work with the North America Executive Leadership responsible for these departments and corporate finance to make sure the organization is meeting all financial requirements including but not limited to: budgeted spending, headcount, purchasing, and compliance with all policies and procedures. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: ● Providing month-end accounting, financial forecasting, and management reporting for numerous US Commercial cost centers totaling approx. $250M in annual spending ● Monthly tasks include monthly invoice & purchase order reconciliation, prepare accruals, analysis of expense, headcount & sales and providing appropriate reporting to the US commercial team. ● This position is also responsible for developing models for expense & headcount forecasting/Budgeting, proactively analyze and interpret financial data, provide relevant guidance to the appropriate management customers. ● Assist with consolidated reporting & analysis for expenses, headcount & sales for NA Commercial management team. Skills/Qualifications/Education Requirements: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. For Business Analyst: * Undergraduate degree in accounting/business/finance required * Minimum 2 years work experience * Proven mastery of accounting procedures and practices * Experience with financial forecasting of cost center budgeting and experience/knowledge of IT tools such as COGNOS, Hyperion, or SAP BI for budgeting and reporting * Ability to analyze and interpret data, identify inaccuracies and prepare variance reports for executive level management reporting * Must possess extensive knowledge of SAP as well as additional computer skills (ie Microsoft Office including excel, word, PowerPoint) * Must possess thorough understanding of financial policies and procedures in order to ensure compliance and communicate requirements to colleagues * Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to interact and manage effectively with all levels of personnel throughout US Commercial functions * Must be detail oriented and have ability to prioritize work in order to meet deadlines * Must have effective problem-solving skills, the ability to multi-tasks and prioritize work, and the confidence to proactively anticipate and avoid financial or communication issues Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment.
