There are three vacancies available. One in Columbia, Missouri; one in Geneva, New York; and one in Pullman, Washington. The incumbent administers the location's financial management activities which encompasses numerous accounting codes and subaccounts, different sources of funds, and unusual financial arrangements.

Analyzes and prepares special and recurring salary reports which provide status or analytical information to various organizations and levels of management services.
Conducts analyses on the location's overall financial position with consideration to the amount and purpose of expenditures, funding arrangements, and trends
Forecasts and establishes cost estimates for recurring charges (e.g., cost of utilities, rentals, and travel) and makes adjustments as spending occurs
Manages the locations financial tracking system/processes. Responsible for training location personnel on the proper use of the financial tracking system.
Inputs data into the automated financial tracking system and establishes subaccounts for research projects within the management unit.
Uses an automated tracking system (Salary Management System) to track salary costs and hours worked, by employee, by pay period for the entire fiscal year.
Monitors, reviews, analyzes, and verifies salary related data and information to determine whether salary liabilities remain within parameters of established guidelines.
Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
Time in grade: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade to be considered for the next higher grade (e.g. one year at the GS-11 grade level for consideration for the GS-12 grade level.)

At the GS-06: Qualifying experience for GS-06 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-05 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience performing budget and financial management tasks including assisting with preparing cost estimates; preparing financial reports; and operating accounting software and spreadsheet software to compute accounting data.
At the GS-07: Qualifying experience for GS-07 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-06 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience performing budget and financial management tasks including quality control of financial data; reviewing, analyzing and preparing budgetary data and estimates; using automated tracking systems to track costs and prepare financial reports; and operating accounting software and spreadsheet software to compute accounting data.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
