Financial Systems Analysts

As we grow we are seeking a Financial Systems Analysts.

The Financial System Analysts will be responsible for providing general applications support to Vision users while maintaining data integrity. Write custom reports using SQL Server Reporting Services specializing in Accounting and Finance information.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Primary

  • Create Vision custom reports as requested using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)

  • Maintain existing custom reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)

  • Generate month-end custom ad-hoc reports and coordinate when to post them to Intranet.

  • Provide backup support when other financial systems personnel are not available.

  • Act as accounting system super-user, troubleshooting issues and assisting others

  • With guidance, be a frontline person for the Financial Systems group to provide the Vision support

  • Coordinate with IT Support to resolve user issue. Escalate to higher support level if needed.

  • Ensure all work is done in a timely and efficient manner and provide updates for reference

Secondary

  • Help maintain Vision data integrity. Help setting up workflows & alerts to streamline operations and add value to Vision core applications.

  • Participate in Vision testing groups to test new modules/features before upgrading to the new version.

  • Help with Vision upgrades as needed.

  • Participate in local Vision user group to learn best practice from peers.

  • Help creating Vision Training Materials.

  • Assist with audits, providing requested information under the direction of the CFO and management

  • Assist with continual process-improvement, implementing new policies and procedures

Qualifications

Required:

  • Degree in Management Information Technology or related Major required.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in SQL Server and SSRS required.

  • Able to understand report specifications and requirements then design, test, deploy and train on usage of report

  • Working knowledge of Deltek Vision or similar applications.

  • Experience with Accounting and Financial practices and back end processing

  • Understanding of project accounting concepts and practices.

  • Experience in application support.

  • Ability to communicate and provide technical support to on-site and remote users.

  • Ability to work both in a team and independently

A Plus:

  • Working knowledge of budgeting tools, time and expense modules

  • Global EFT, multi-currency entity management, banking systems interface

  • Understanding of project management practice, particularly resource planning.

This role has to be responsive to change, proactively anticipating data, insights and analytics to help the business to make the right data driven decisions. The position reports directly to the Finance Manager, LexisNexis Nexis Solutions, will work closely with the Nexis Solutions Management team and will receive support from the GRPA (Global Reporting, Planning and Analysis) team. Key roles and responsibilities * Management reporting: Provide timely, sound and actionable financial analysis of current results for US business unit and deliver insights on impacts to future performance. Prepare and analyse schedules, reports or journal entries. Review monthly sales metrics and revenue reports with insight into trends and variances. Identify areas of cost opportunities and/or concern, focusing on trends and variance analyses. * Strategic and tactical planning, budgeting and forecasting: Forecast revenue and costs for US business unit on a quarterly basis. Develop revenue, direct cost and labour driver assumptions. * Provide financial insight at review meetings to drive actions and foster a no surprises culture. Provide the financials for the strategic plan. Provide constructive challenge to Sales forecasts. * Business Partnering: Support the VP of Sales in understanding cost trends and variance analysis. * Operational Effectiveness: Ownership of critical processes across the group (driving best practices, continuous improvement, standardization, training, etc. Support all areas of the business to optimize costs. Perform and lead special projects and critical analysis as assigned. * Investment: Identify areas of financial performance that merit analytical investigation and help the business drive investment decisions, including the use of specific milestones. Provide support, review and challenge on investments in technology, product, geographic expansion via development of business cases and then reviewing financial performance and outcomes. * Internal control: Provide strong stewardship and governance of the US business unit. * Relations network (internal / external): Develop excellent relations and maintain regular contact with Business Unit CFO, Commercial Finance Director, Business Partners and GRPA. * Understand complex and underlying data relationships. Pull ideas, issues, and observations into a clear and concise presentation. Organize information to make it clearer and integrate small pieces of data into a structure that pulls them together. Make appropriate recommendations to multiple levels of management. * In depth understanding of financial/accounting systems and software. Understand the roles and relationship of organizational units and processes. May design necessary systems & process improvements.
