The successful candidate must have deep expertise with financial systems and financial processes with a demonstrated ability to implement technology-based best practices. This position reports to the Financial Systems Manager and will be part of a team of specialists that provide ongoing support for the financial systems, improve integration of the financial infrastructure and help implement new financial processes.
Preferably, this candidate would be familiar with the legal or professional services industry and have experience on the Thomson Reuters "Elite" platforms (either legacy Enterprise or newer 3E platform). This role will work closely with staff across Finance and Information Systems.
Serves as a "subject matter expert" regarding the firm's financial systems and integrations, including time entry, billing, collections, accounts payable, general ledger and data warehouse. Preferably familiar with the multi-currency aspects of these systems.
Leads aspects of key Finance projects related to software upgrades, process improvement and system integrations.
Leads testing processes related to system enhancements and process changes, including developing test plans, writing test scripts, coordinate user acceptance testing and communicate system defects to the development team.
Provides assistance to maintain the overall setup and maintenance of system codes and data integrity of the accounting system and auxiliary subsystems.
Maintain the Financial Systems In-box requests to assure that requests are properly completed on a timely basis.
Ensures that user access rights to the accounting system are appropriately setup based on staff responsibilities and reviews setup with management on a periodic basis.
Manages the effective and efficient design, testing and implementation of client invoice templates
Maintains timekeeper billing rates and alternative fee arrangements are accurately setup in the accounting system, documented and enables sophisticated reporting regarding same.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Bachelor degree or higher in accounting, finance or business
Possesses strong written, verbal and listening/comprehension communication skills. Must be able to succinctly present information and ideas across multiple levels of the organization.
Two or more years experience with professional services or legal financial accounting systems. Strong knowledge of all aspects of the time and billing process within a multi-currency environment, including system setups, master files, prebill edit and billing, credit processing, inquiry and reporting. Experience working with TR Elite 3E a plus.
Experience in extracting and reporting of data using SQL skills and Business Intelligence tools
Demonstrated expertise with MS Excel, including advanced features such as pivot tables, VLOOKUP functionality, filtering, graphs and advanced formulas
Proficiency with MS Word and PowerPoint software
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
