The Financial Specialist serves the Association's internal and external customers by preparing financial loan packages for system and manual underwriting decisions in a timely manner that meets or exceeds customer expectations. Provides assistance to Credit Analysts in loan processing activities and support for the local marketplace delivery team. Perform standardized and consistent financial input and monitoring for all levels and types of operations. Work in a team environment to accomplish goals.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide financial input support for Credit Analysts and Retail Teams.

  • Analyzing, servicing, and monitoring lower risk and less complex loans

  • Confirm, assemble, and input financial data including balance sheets, tax returns, income statements, and cash flow statements into the Association's portfolio management database for all levels and types of operations where some interpretation and decision-making would be required.

  • Receive loan information and conduct other analysis, research and/or calculations, as needed, before data is entered into the system e.g., multiple entity loans, cash flow calculations, income statement preparation, prepared tax returns, and/or specialty input work.

  • Construct consolidated financial information. Complete After-Close/RCU balance sheets, Income Statements, and Analysis Summaries.

  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers. Respond to inquiries from Retail teammates regarding the financial input status of loans. Successfully communicate with Retail teammates any needs for missing and/or inconclusive information on loan requests.

  • May assist with cross-training and mentoring new employees and other Financial Specialists. May serve in roles for special projects.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

Two year college degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience required. Four year college degree preferred and/or a combination of related experience or specialized training.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • A general working knowledge of Association credit policies, procedures, standards, credit extension and administration processes

  • Basic knowledge of financial principles and their application to credit delivery

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and direction

  • Ability to appropriately handle highly confidential materials

  • Very high level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Strong and professional customer service skills

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to initiate, organize, and prioritize work

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and demonstrate team-building attitude and skills

  • Ability to use credit-related computer systems and software applications (AgriLytic, Agrinomics, Relationship, etc.)

  • Proficient in Windows environment using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer.

  • Limited overnight travel and irregular hours required as needed.

In this job, you will: Actual responsibilities will vary depending on daily needs and loan volume. * Promptly and courteously respond to various telephone inquiries from customers, correspondents and regional sales officers. Including: * Explain the features and benefits of our loan and leasing programs with correspondents and direct loan customers. Describe the underwriting standards contained in the credit matrix, and help customers understand those expectations. * Determine if the loan will potentially meet the program guidelines and underwriting standards. * Provide guidance and alternative lenders to callers whose loan and/or situation does not match our program standards. * Direct customer or correspondent to appropriate website or send appropriate forms for prequalification loan submission. * Log all new loan files into AFS Pipeline/loan tracking database in an efficient and timely manner. * Request, prepare and follow up on credit reports and verifications as directed by underwriters and RSOs. * Manage workflow to ensure follow-up on all loan packages that have been sent. * Follow-up on missing pieces of documentation from RSOs, correspondents and direct customers to complete the loan file for underwriting. Establish a sense of urgency about getting packages completed, applying courteous customer service. * Ensure approved loan packages are in an acceptable format consistent with established standards before sending to closing department; including creating models and preparing applications and balance sheets on Scored loans. * Prepare, send, and index withdraw and/or decline letters to customers as directed by underwriting and RSOs, with related updates to applicable pipeline as needed. * Index initial loan file documents and duplicate loan files as directed by underwriting. * Complete final file audits for customers with duplicate loans. * Prepare monthly management reports on loan volume (i.e. received, approved and declined or withdrawn). * Assist underwriting with inputting financial information. * Other duties as assigned. Here's what you'll need to be considered: Education Required - Bachelor's degree in business, agriculture, or equivalent related experience. Experience Preferred - Experience in Ag Lending and Customer Service.
