SUMMARY

Incumbents in this position believe that customer service begins with exceeding customer expectations. You listen for little clues while asking open ended questions about your customers financial needs, major life events, or simple daily activities that allow you to fulfill the client's needs before they realize they even have the need. You embrace change as an essential function of growth and the opportunity to learn excites you. You understand the First Interstate Bank's Service Commitments and know how to implement the guiding principles in all interactions with clients and coworkers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned.

  • Deliver personalized customer service.

  • Perform a variety of financial transactions ranging from check cashing, deposits, withdrawals, processing loan payments and counting currency and coin accurately.

  • Hold financial conversations with clients and prospects to determine needs and provide appropriate solutions.

  • Open and maintain a variety of products including: consumer and business checking and savings accounts including Individual Retirement Accounts, Health Savings Accounts, consumer and business credit cards, and much more.

  • Originate Balance Plus and personal loans including Home Equity Loans and Lines of Credit.

  • Identify referral opportunities for Home Loans and Wealth Management (proactively use 360View to plan and document.)

  • Build client relationships through outbound and proactive measures including First 15.

  • Answer customer questions with a can-do attitude, no matter how complex or technical.

  • Comply with First Interstate's policies and procedures ensuring bank regulations are followed.

  • Keep up to date on regulation changes; follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual or job-specific training.

  • Demonstrate compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and apply to designated job responsibilities - knowledge may be gained though coursework and on-the-job training.

  • Takes personal initiative and is a positive example for other to emulate.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position may have supervisory responsibilities in retail branches.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION &/or EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required and three plus (3+) years of banking or comparable experience that includes cash handling, opening and maintaining consumer and business deposit accounts, originate personal loans including Home Equity Loans and Lines of Credit; track record of outstanding customer service.

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES

Attention to detail including verbal and written instructions; maintain confidentiality; effective use of tact and diplomacy as it relates to clients and co-workers; working knowledge and use of a personal computer, Word/Excel software programs and strong 10-key skills preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk & use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

As the face of the Department of Licensing, your service will have a direct impact on the members of the community as well as public safety across Washington State! In this position, you will receive extensive training to confidently issue driver licenses, enhanced driver licenses, and identification cards to the public. You will also have the opportunity to work with a dynamic and diverse team, providing world-class customer service to every customer, every time! Please Note This position includes an in-training plan and will be filled at the LSR 1 level (Starting salary is $2707/monthly Salary Range 37). Upon successful completion of 6 months of employment with the Department of Licensing, you will receive a 5% salary increase. Upon successful completion of the training plan, you will be placed at the LSR 2 level ($2972 - $3871/monthly Salary Range 41). Upon completing training and certification, you will be eligible to issue Enhanced Drivers Licenses (EDL), which will result in a 10% pay increase. What our Enhanced Driver Licensing Services Representatives 1-2 do In support of our agency mission, vision, and customer service promise to be friendly and helpful – every time, this position: * Provides world-class customer service to the public with enthusiasm and a smile. * Verifies and evaluates information to issue licenses, instruction permits and identification in compliance with laws, regulations, and procedures. * Collects and accounts for licensing fees. * Assesses customer qualifications (physical, medical and visual) for licensing eligibility. * Conducts driving skill tests. May need to assume full operation of motor vehicle. * Authenticates identity documents through online verification. * Performs final review of enhanced driver license or identity card applications and portfolios to determine applicant eligibility. * Conducts face-to-face interview with applicants to validate their identity. * Denotes U.S. citizenship of applicants. * Approve or denies Enhanced Driver Licensing applications. * Issues federally-approved Enhanced Driver Licenses or ID cards to eligible applicants. * Consistently provide friendly and helpful customer service. Required Qualifications Applicants who possess the following qualifications may be referred: * U.S. Citizenship. * Five years of licensed driving experience (please note, time with a learners permit does not count towards your licensed driving experience). * Valid Washington State Driver license with no restrictions other than corrective lenses (or the ability to obtain one upon hire). * Two years of experience providing customer service to the public. * Typing speed of 30 words per minute (please note, proof is required upon applying). * One year experience using word processing software to create, format, edit, and save documents. * Demonstrated consistently progressive career development. * Acceptable or clear finger-print based criminal history background check.
