Manage financial reporting and invoicing for selected sponsored programs not associated with financial aid.
Financial reports for program managers are provided at least monthly, or as required for compliance.
Advises program managers of financial issues if they should develop within their grant; assists in problem resolution as necessary.
Financial transactions are recorded timely and accurately.
Financial reports are submitted timely and are accurate.
Monitor and reconcile the various sponsored program awards in accordance with established guidelines.
Ensure drawdown amounts are properly supported

Support Grant Proposal Cost Budgets
Support renegotiation of federal Negotiated Indirect Cost Rate Agreement (NICRA)
Author and Maintain Federally Funded Sponsored Program manual
Maintain Grants log with Awards, period of performance, AIS GL coding, contacts
Find efficiencies in transactional accounting
Learn/Teach how to import Journal Entries into AIS
Learn/Teach how to import Budgets into AIS
Utilize SIS and AIS queries for reconciling General Ledger control accounts
Learn/Teach ImageNow and WebNow applications
Assist year-end financial reporting procedures.
Quarterly review of reports to assure issues are addressed timely.
-Other duties performed as assigned (such as reconciling General Ledger accounts, Excel financial modeling, and processing journal entries as needed).
-No complaints received regarding violations of confidentiality or security access rules.
-Notifies Finance Director of breaches of internal controls.
-Completes required security training
Excellent working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices; knowledge of grant accounting, including knowledge of state and federal rules, regulations, processes, and procedures; knowledge of proper internal controls. Knowledge of Federal and State grant accounting guidelines.
Strong interpersonal skills, analytical skills, computer keyboarding, microcomputer processing with Microsoft Word and Excel, PeopleSoft Software for the student information system and accounting information system, telephone communications, electronic communications, filing and record retention, and excellent business writing skills.
Abilities: Generates and interprets financial data and information and compiles timely and accurate financial reports and reconciliations; project and grant financial management; ability to recognize internal control weaknesses and to propose corrective actions for such and to monitor, develop, and implement internal control procedures. Strong analytical abilities; ability to provide proper error resolution recommendations in a complex accounting environment.
Bachelor's degree preferred from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, business administration, finance or related field, along with experience performing advanced level accounting functions.
Compensation and Benefits:
The minimum salary for the position is $33,598.00 per year, however, actual starting salary will commensurate with education and/or experience. The position is full time, classified and as such is eligible for the benefits package offered by the Commonwealth of Virginia for state agencies.
