Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB

The financial analyst works with various officers within the accounting department to produce recurring financial information and analysis as needed regarding the performance of Southern Bank.

  • Ensures the confidentiality of customer non-public personal information and secures information systems to comply with bank regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Financial Reporting

Administer the process related to generating financial reports; and reviews financial statements prepared by Financial Analyst;

Reviews reports related to branch profitability prepared by Financial Analyst;

Reviews board reports prepared by Financial Analyst;

Prepares bank's cash flow statements;

Continue ongoing financial reporting automation initiatives in conjunction with EDDS team

  • Regulatory reporting, including, but not limited to,

Call Reporting

FR 2900

FR 2644

FR Y-9's

FR Y-6 (Summary of Deposits)

FR Y-8

State Banking Department Reporting

Regulatory applications (mergers, branch openings, etc.)

  • Assist with audit /exam requests:

External audit requests

Bank regulatory exam requests

Internal audit periodic requests

SOX documentation

  • Assist with income tax preparation requests:

Quarterly tax estimates

Annual tax return document requests

REIT tax return document requests

  • Other specialty banking unit reporting; and,
  • Complete various special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Self-motivation;

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; and,

  • A detail-oriented work ethic, the ability to meet deadlines, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; or, three years' related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience; and,
  • Banking industry and regulatory reporting experience preferred.
