PSE's Office of Controller team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Financial Reporting Analyst position!

Job Description

The Financial Reporting Analyst performs moderately complex accounting, financial reporting and analysis functions. He/she participates in recurring accounting processes to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records. This individual ensures work is in compliance with documented SOX procedures and controls. The Financial Reporting Analyst also ensures customer satisfaction and continual improvement of processes.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs routine accounting and analysis functions.

  • Prepares journal entries and maintains schedules related to equity activity.

  • Prepares consolidated financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Prepares internal, external and regulatory financial reports as related to the financial statements.

  • Responds to requests received from management and other departments.

  • Participates on special projects/research within the department.

  • Complies with internal controls and actively updates and tests SOX 404 procedures.

  • May act as a subject matter expert.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting.

  • Demonstrated accounting and analysis experience.

  • Good verbal and written skills.

  • Strong PC skills (including Excel and Word).

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with SAP.

  • Certified Public Accountant or candidate.

The FRA assists with analyzing company results for both internal and external parties, assists with technical accounting implementation, and contributes to projects within the finance department as needed. The FRA understands the fundamentals of accounting and reporting requirements, learning statutory and industry-specific areas as needed, with an ability and interest to take on complex tasks. Responsibilities * Accounting Close and Reporting Cycle: The FRA participates in established department processes related to the accounting close cycle, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to appropriate accounting guidance. This includes preparing schedules for the Company's SEC reports or statutory financial statements, or preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, or other tasks. The FRA may identify processes for improvement and is open to implementing more efficient and reliable workflows. * Analytics and Reporting: The FRA works cross-functionally with finance and actuarial teams to deliver data analytics to support business units and management. The FRA will prepare analytics and management reporting, and help identify areas to improve analysis. The FRA demonstrates a strong understanding of his/her assigned areas * Technical Accounting: The FRA is responsible for performing and documenting technical accounting research for US GAAP and, as needed, statutory reporting. Typical projects may include assisting with implementing new or complex transactions or accounting guidance. The FRA consults as needed with senior team members for additional guidance. * Ad Hoc Projects: The FRA will participate in ad-hoc projects as needed. This may include implementation of new or improving existing processes within finance. The FRA works closely with the project manager to execute the project in an efficient, complete, and timely manner. Qualifications * Bacherlors degree in Accounting or related field * Minimum of 2 years of experience in a corporate accounting environment or public accounting * CPA eligible and/or working towards it or equivalent work experience. * US GAAP and Statutory reporting experience, preferred Symetra Financial Bellevue WA
