The Financial Reporting Analyst prepares drafts of annual, semi-annual and quarterly financial statements and regulatory filings (CIMA/FAR and Form PF) for hedge and private equity funds. The position provides support to senior team members and managers in connection with general fund financial information and completes various projects as assigned by the Financial Administration Manager.


Financial Reporting

  • Draft annual and quarterly financial statements and regulatory filings such as CIMA/FAR and Form PF for hedge and private equity funds, as well as timetable calendars for such statements.

  • Work with the Fund Administration Manager in procedures manuals preparation.

  • Report and communicate performance data to fund management and industry publications.

  • Develop and maintain a working familiarity with applicable laws, regulations and interpretations governing financial statements and disclosure, including the Investment Company Act of 1940, the Internal Revenue Code, GAAP and other applicable requirements.

  • Maintain awareness of regulatory changes effecting funds.

  • Communicate appropriately with the Fund Reporting Supervisor with respect to all timetables and workflow, and communicating to the extent appropriate about all relevant matters with other department members within BBH.


  • Evaluate and suggest enhancements to Eagle STAR (BBH's Fund Accounting system) and Unity (BBH's Fund Reporting system) to automate procedures for financial reporting and compliance purposes.

  • Communicate appropriately with the Financial Reporting Supervisor with respect to all timetables and workflow.


  • Perform special projects as directed by the Fund Reporting Supervisor.

  • Assist in the review of work completed by junior level staff members with regard to internal policies, procedures and systems as required.


Education level and/or relevant experience(s)

  • BA/BS degree and/or equivalent work experience; Business related concentration is preferable.
  • 3 to 5 years mutual fund accounting/reporting or related mutual fund experience including 1 to 2 years of prior financial reporting and alternative investment experience.

Knowledge and skills (general and technical)

  • Highly organized, detail oriented, self-motivated.

  • Proven ability to problem solve and recommend solutions.

  • Strong aptitude for accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Capable of monitoring and completing a variety of projects simultaneously.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Willingness and ability to work in a client-driven, deadline-oriented environment.

Job Description Accountable for the preparation of the Form N-PORT filing for all John Hancock Funds. Form N-PORT requires monthly portfolio reporting no later than 30 days after the end of each month. In addition to Form N-PORT, accountable for the preparation and review of documents and schedules to be incorporated in various regulatory filings. Key Accountabilities: Individual Accountabilities: * Prepare form N-PORT for John Hancock mutual funds of with greater complexities including supporting schedules and exhibits. * Reconcile custodian bank reports and related audit packages and Fund Treasury reports to the reporting produced. * Communication and resolution of accounting and reporting items with Custodian Banks, as necessary. * Coordinate and review the flow of information necessary to complete Form N-PORT, including repurchase agreements, securities lending requirements and derivative requirements. Requires interaction with internal John Hancock Groups (Fund Administration, Legal, Investment Operations, etc.) to ensure the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of information included. * Prepare reporting and/or supporting schedules for certain SEC filings, including Forms N-MFP, NQ, and CPO-PQR. * Preparation of financial data for internal management reporting, DC&P/Certification meetings, proxies and other ad-hoc financial and analytical requests. * Participate in the departmental initiatives, including the annual review and maintenance of policies and procedures, reporting checklists and other projects. * Assist staff with questions. * Meet with manager to review issues. * Other duties as assigned.
