IMT Insurance is now seeking an individual to fill the position of Financial Reporting Accountant. This detail-oriented and organized individual will be responsible for the organizations budget process and other core accounting responsibilities within the Accounting Department. A DAY IN THE LIFE:
Work with department managers to develop the organizations budget to align with key performance indicators and financial targets.
Review managers budget proposals for completeness and accuracy.
Review all budgeted expenses for merit.
Assist department managers with analyzing proposed expenses and finding alternatives if projected expenses are unsatisfactory.
Combine department budgets into a consolidated organizational budget.
Present annual budget to CEO and Vice President of Accounting and explain additions and account variances.
Monitor organizational spending to ensure to that it is within budget on a monthly basis.
Monitor home office building property management budget.
Monitor accurate account and departmental coding of Accounts Payable.
Discuss expense variances with department managers and document explanations for Senior Leadership.
Prepare and file state and local sales and use tax returns, including compilation and analysis of financial data.
Maintain departmental cost allocation formulas, department codes, and account codes within the General Ledger software.
Prepare and file premium tax and supplemental state filings.
Prepare Insurance Expense Exhibit
Completion of assigned Quarterly and Annual Statutory Statements pages and schedules.
Participation in month end close, including preparation of journal entries.
Identify areas for process improvements to increase efficiency, strengthen documentation and reach department objectives.
Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned.
WHAT YOULL NEED:
Experience with preparation and analysis of corporate budget.
Must be able to work well with others and possess excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
Must possess strong analytical and accounting skills.
Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft and other financial software tools.
Must be very detail oriented while maintaining accuracy.
Must possess the ability to work well with others.
A 4-year Accounting degree and 3 + years of relevant work experience is necessary to perform normal functions.
