We are currently seeking an Accountant for our financial reinsurance area. This role will be based in Houston, TX and will report to the Director & Actuary, Financial Reinsurance. The primary responsibilities are:

  • For the financial re transactions

  • Prepare the quarterly settlements

  • Prepare or review/approve the accounting entries for STAT and GAAP reporting

  • Prepare or review/approve journal vouchers and balance sheet account certifications;

  • Zero-base business processes, recommend, and implement continuous improvements;

  • Prepare all quarterly and annual deliverables to the reinsurers

  • Prepare Department of Insurance quarterly deliverables

  • Support the team during audits (internal and external)

  • For new transactions, work closely with our Office of Accounting Policies to determine the proper accounting

  • Prepare and maintain documentation according to AIG standards

  • Support any other task related to financial re transactions

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or in a similar field

  • Eight or more years of accounting experience including financial reporting;

  • Strong math aptitude and excellent analytical, problem solving and verbal / written communication skills;

  • Excellent technical skills including Excel and Access; Mainframe experience is a plus;

  • Attention to details, organization, and high level of accuracy are required skills;

  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers;

  • Prior Statutory and GAAP financial reporting experience and CPA designation a plus;

  • Excellent team player.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES * Manages a complex global financial consolidation and reporting process for the NOV Completion & Production Solutions segment across eight business units. Analyzes consolidated financial statements including monthly actual, forecasting and annual budgets. Manages the analysis of operating results and variances (i.e., actual vs. budget, vs. forecast, vs. trends) and other operating metrics such as backlog, headcount, capital expenditures, etc. Analyze balance sheet accounts including working capital, NVA, agings and trends. * Partner with business leaders to understand strategies and business models. Utilize and develop various business reports and metrics to evaluate, interpret, and provide critical information in support of strategic and operating decisions. Work closely with business unit teams to better understand financial results, trends and validate forecast assumptions. * Develop and drive key operational and financial reports across the segment utilizing the most efficient systems including HFM, data warehouse, ERP systems and other applications. Actively automate and streamline processes. * Participates in acquisition integration efforts. * Manage the segment support areas (IS, Sales, HR, Executive, Financial Shared Services, etc.) including financial analysis of actuals, forecasts and budgets. * Participates in working capital initiatives through reporting and analysis, providing support for the businesses. * Analyze inventory and reserves with business units to better manage and control inventory. * Analyze capital expenditures including economic analysis, budget and reporting. * Manages and develops the staff within the department for their career paths and succession planning. * Maintain working knowledge of financial information systems (HFM, SmartView, HCM and others), performance and capabilities with a total commitment to continual system improvement. * Participate in other projects and programs, as directed, for their successful completion TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES * Advanced Excel skills * Hyperion Financial Management experience including SmartView, data warehouse experience and other reporting applications.
