Job Summary

The Financial Planning & Systems Manager is the focal point for accounting systems administration and financial planning & analysis activities for the corporation. The Manager is part of the finance department leadership and works closely with other finance team leaders to ensure full utilization and adoption of accounting system capabilities, and high-quality and timely financial planning processes and financial analysis.

Primary Duties

  • Financial Planning
  • Lead budget and forecast processes annually. Perform system set-up and data validation for financial planning activities. Proactively communicate and monitor deadlines.
  • Finance Systems Administration
  • Serve as functional lead for all accounting applications. Manages all aspects of systems administration, in partnership with HRIS and IT Teams, including routine system maintenance, user training, and major planned updates/changes.
  • Financial Analysis
  • Manage financial analysis and modeling needs across organization to produce timely, actionable data and recommendations.
  • Reporting
  • Act as report writing expert in support of accounting and payroll staff to include creating custom reports as needed and review of system reports. Lead for both routine and ad hoc financial reporting needs.
  • Accounting processes and internal controls - consistently identify and implement incremental improvements to accounting department business processes and internal control structures utilizing full breath of accounting system capabilities. Analyze system processes and offer solutions for improvements in efficiency, accuracy, and data integrity.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support monthly accounting close, including review and issuance of monthly P&L packages.

  • Lead and coordinate monthly P&L analysis activities across organization, including management reporting package to senior executives to drive financial performance meetings. Continually enhance analysis activities to produce actionable insight.

  • Support integrations with other internal and external systems; including banking for payroll and accounting, budgeting system, and any future system integration needs.

  • Review semi-annual system updates and their possible effects on custom processes and reports. Offer solutions to affected areas and plan changes as needed.

  • Act as Project Manager for all accounting system implementations, planned major changes/updates, and business acquisition integrations.

  • Plan and execute system usage training for all level users.

  • Work closely with Vice President

  • Corporate Accounting and Director

  • Accounting on audit related needs.

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications: Education, Experience and Certification(s)

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, information systems, or similar field required.

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience working closely with financial systems required.

  • Prior experience with Workday and/or Adaptive preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks according to deadlines and deliver work on schedule with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively interact with management and customers.

  • Highly proficient in MS Office applications, particularly Excel.

  • Detail-oriented and able to carry out work with the highest levels of accuracy.
