This position is more a Operations Analyst than Finance.

Summary of Position

Working in close collaboration with the Directors and Clinical Directors across MGB Healthcare at Home, the Chief Clinical and Innovation Officer, the Chief Operating Officer/Chief Nursing Officer, and reporting to the Executive Director of Business Operations for Home Hospital, the Business Analyst is responsible for the oversight and preparation of several key finance processes, reports, and analyses, including volume reporting and analysis, operational statistics, salary and wage analyses, and ad hoc analyses and planning. Working closely with the Executive Director of Business Operations and the Program Director of Finance for Home Hospital, the Business Analyst prepares materials to support senior leadership financial understanding and decision making. This position works closely with MGB Decision Support, Strategy, Business Development, Revenue Cycle and other Finance departments and teams.

Drawing on a broad understanding of health care and hospital operations, and displaying a high degree of initiative, independent judgment and critical thinking skills, the Business Analyst will work collaboratively with leadership across the Healthcare at Home program to develop, continually assess and manage data analyses, presentations and business needs. This position requires a proven track record of collaboration, excellent judgment, organizational and communication skills, the ability to prioritize and complete a wide range of tasks and the experience needed to make decisions quickly and independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyzes financial and operational results to interpret and report underlying causes for business performance and variance among current and prior periods, budgets and forecasts.

  • Create financial and operational analyses to assess the impact of opportunities and initiatives on Home Hospital and its member institutions.

  • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves work problems.

  • Pulls data from various systems including EDW, EPSi and Epic.

  • Develop key business questions to frame analytics and support strategic decision-making.

  • Perform basic business/financial and operational analyses around new strategies, clinical businesses and opportunities, and partnerships.

  • Support the stand up and execution of new businesses and partnerships working with clinical and functional leaders.

  • Support conducting due diligence on potential new clinical business opportunities and partnerships.

  • Collaborates with the Executive Director of Business Operations and Program Director of Finance to improve reporting efficiency and communication of financial and operational results and analyses.

  • Provides ongoing communication to the Directors related to progress, issues or concerns relative to the accomplishment of team's goals.

  • Maintains a thorough understanding of the company's financial policies, accounting and analytical systems, and relevant business processes.

  • Enhances own professional growth and development through participation in company-sponsored training, continuing education, current business and industry publications, in-service meetings, and workshops.

  • Communicate complex data and analysis effectively to leaders, including clinical audiences.

  • Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality, including maintaining all policies and practices to protect PHI data and follow HIPAA guidelines.

  • Performs other tasks and duties as assigned

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in business, finance, general management, or related field

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in financial analysis role, consulting, corporate strategy, corporate development

  • Prior healthcare experience a plus

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including PivotTables, advanced formulas, macros, VBA, Power Query, and Power Pivot.

  • Advanced skills in visualization, Excel, PowerPoint, SQL, Tableau, or similar programs

Working Conditions

Hybrid work conditions, up to 1x/week in office (Assembly Row). Usual office environment. May occasionally travel to other facilities and meeting locations.
