We are seeking an Internal Auditor to join our financial internal audit team. This position will be a key contributor within the internal audit team and will focus primarily on Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) audits, with additional team responsibilities as needed. To be successful, you must be self-motivated to learn new things and be able to articulate and share your knowledge with team members. Additionally, you must possess the ability to multi-task and work effectively individually or in team settings with minimum supervision.

This is a hybrid position that requires you to come to the office approximately once per month for onsite meetings, events, and training. The remainder of the time you may work remotely from home. This position can be based to work out of the following locations: Allen, TX; Alpharetta, GA; Birmingham, AL; Cedar Falls, IA; Charlotte, NC; Lenexa, KS; Louisville, KY; San Diego, CA; and Springfield/Monett, MO. Salary range for this position is $45-75k, depending on candidate experience and geographic location.

What you'll be responsible for:

  • Report to the Financial Internal Audit Supervisor and assist with the execution of risk-based internal audit engagements.

  • Assist external auditors in the performance of SOC 1 and SOC 2 testing.

  • Perform SOX business process control testing

  • Effectively cooperate and interact within an interactive project team

  • Complete worksteps within complex, risk-based internal audit engagements.

  • Interact respectfully and effectively with various personnel across the organization to understand processes, gather information, and test processes and controls.

  • Monitor status of management action plans.

  • Research and recommend process, security, operations, or compliance enhancements.

  • Coordinate tasks with internal and external assurance providers and risk assessors.

  • Participate in department quality assurance and continuous improvement program.

  • May perform additional duties as needed.

What you'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance.

  • Minimum of 18 months of financial audit experience in internal audit or public accounting on behalf of a public company or 3 years financial or accounting operations experience.

  • Must be able to travel up to 10% for meetings with internal and external leaders, priority projects, networking, and training.

What would be nice for you to have:

  • A relevant professional certification (CISA, CISSP, CFE, CISM, CRISC, CGEIT, CIA, PMP, CITP, or CPA), or a willingness to obtain one of these certifications if hired.

  • Experience in performing SOX controls testing (or internal controls).

  • Understanding of requirements associated with SEC, PCAOB, OCC, FDIC, Federal Reserve, PCI, PII, NACHA, etc.

  • Financial services, e-commerce, payment systems, or tech industry experience.

  • Experience with audit writing or reporting.
