Title: Financial Engineer

Location: 7 World Trade Center, 250 Greenwich Street, New York, NY 10007

Duties: Apply statistical theory and methods to collect, organize, interpret, and summarize data to support the development and implementation of both fundamental and structured finance credit rating models and scorecards for Moody's credit ratings process. Conduct econometric and statistical analysis to support selection of credit rating model and scorecard factors and key drivers of default and/or expected loss. Conduct research on credit rating model and scorecard development and calibration techniques. Work with rating analysts, methodology development, review and verification groups, and IT to design, develop, test, maintain and implement new and existing credit rating models and scorecards. Build statistical models and prototypes and perform econometric modeling utilizing MATLAB, Python, R, Stata or other statistical modeling program. Analyze corporate balance sheets, prepare statistical reports and other applied data analysis to support selection of model and scorecard factors supported by data or economic theory. Document models and scorecards and test implementation of model scorecards. Draft calibration reports and white papers as needed for methodology and modeling projects. Liaise with credit rating analyst, IT development and Quality Assessment teams to implement scorecards and address technical questions and issues from scorecard users. Telecommuting permitted (100% telecommuting position. Will consider applicants resident in the continental U.S.)

Requirements: Must have a Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Finance, Financial Engineering, Data Science, or a closely related quantitative field. Must have experience or academic training with the following: performing financial, credit, or equity analysis; performing econometric and statistical modeling; developing credit risk models and applying knowledge of financial quantitative methods and data analytics; working with various types of financial databases; applying knowledge of Probability, Statistics, Monte Carlo simulation, Regression analysis, and Time series models; utilizing data and programming tools, including VBA, C-Sharp, Machine Learning, Python, SQL, R, and MATLAB; and applying knowledge of algorithms, functional data structure, and data analysis. Telecommuting permitted (100% telecommuting position. Will consider applicants resident in the continental U.S.)

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $108,326 to $137,400, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position.

In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
