Financial Counselor

JOB SUMMARY The Financial Counselor is responsible for collecting estimated self-pay portions from insured patients while in the hospital.# It is also the responsibility of the Financial Counselor to be a liaison and resource for Admissions.# The Financial Counselor will work very closely with Resource Assistance, RCA, the HPN physician offices, Business Office, and Hendrick Admissions Department. JOB REQUIREMENTS Minimum Education High school diploma or equivalent Minimum Work Experience 2 years of experience Required Licenses/Certifications Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Ability to carry out obligations and duties of position Deals effectively with community/consumers Deals effectively with hospital personnel # duties of position Demonstrated interpersonal skills Excellent human relations and oral/written communication skills Maintains professional appearance and decorum at all times Requires ability to handle confidential information Strong negotiation skills Balance figures Compiles and analyze reports Generate reports Input data into computer programs Research information Use computerized spreadsheets to conduct analysis Designated Driver No OSHA Category 3 - Low Risk
