In this role you will:

The Financial Counselor is responsible for reviewing the Financial Clearance Worklist daily and visiting in-house patients; collecting estimated patient liability amounts; explaining all financial information, responsibilities and working closely with outside agencies to ensure patient's financial coverage.

Duties (included but not limited to)

  • Demonstrates excellent customer service

  • In conjunction with the Medicaid Eligibility Staff visit all uninsured patients in-house

  • Provide estimates to patients and/or physicians as requested

  • Generate insurance verification and pre-certification reports daily and follow up with case management and insurance verification departments as appropriate

  • Follows all guidelines set forth in the Cash Handling policy

  • Utilizes eligibility systems, on-line websites or phone calls to determine insurance benefits and pre-certification requirements

  • Assist patients with payment arrangements and in co-ordination with the Medicaid Eligibility Staff assists patient with financial applications


  • High School Diploma and/or GED preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of patient registration and admissions.

  • 1-2 years of customer service and support to patients regarding medical claims and/or insurance verification.

  • 1-2 years of medical collections experience.

  • Must include a resume with online application submission.

There are no paid holidays, vacation or sick leave for this position. Duties include, but are not limited to: The Social Services Counselor serves as a member of an interdisciplinary team in a care coordination concept for a defined high risk maternal and child population. Responsibilities include participant education regarding risk status as well as the provision of case management/care coordination to reduce defined risks. The employee performing these duties does so in the context of client centered service delivery and in coordination with other professional team members.   Makes contact with program participants in home or other community locations. This position is responsible for providing case management/care coordination services via an approved curriculum to pregnant women, infants, and their families who have been determined eligible for participation in Healthy Start. Provides program participants with education, information, referrals and assistance in accessing services. Explores local resources and meets with alternative service delivery providers to promote access to health care through community agency collaboration. Establishes liaison with community agencies to facilitate referrals and ensures the effective coordination of service delivery to clients. Attends client case staffings as designated.   Documents all contacts and case involvement with clients and referral agencies in WFS for the purpose of follow-up and continuity of care. Completes administrative records and reports as required. Completes assessments, family support plans, progress reports and referrals in accordance with Healthy Start Standards and Guidelines and DOH-Duval Protocols. Participates in multidisciplinary staffings and attends supervisory staff meetings, in-service trainings and professional development sessions as required. Occasional participation in health fairs is expected.   Ensures accurate and timely submission of Employee Activity Records (EAR's), employee leave and attendance records, travel logs, monthly reports to assigned supervisor. Performs other related duties as necessary. Must have a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college and university in social sciences AND experience in case management working with families and children. Use of your personal vehicle is required to complete the face-to-face visits. Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position: * Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments * Knowledge of counseling techniques and practices * Knowledge of the principles and practices of social work, public health, nursing, maternal, child health, education or counseling * Knowledge of methods of compiling, organizing and analyzing data * Ability to follow through on all phases of the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of clients * Ability to provide casework services to clients including assessments/evaluations/prevention/treatment services * Ability to collect, analyze and interpret data * Ability to communicate effectively * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others * Knowledge of computers and applications such as Microsoft Office, Powerpoint, Excel and other similar.
