JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOBFUNCTIONS:
Financial Coordinatorcoordinates accounting and personnel activities in the Newborn Center,Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) and some accounting and personnel activitieswith Neurosurgery and Neurology. This position observes, administers,monitors grants, contracts, lab account, salary distributions, purchases, and
Base and Special Education Accounts.
Provides direct assistance to the Director of Administration regarding integration and operation of various programs within the department, assessment and implication of personnel forms and needs, staff training, long-range planning and budgetary concerns.
Prepares and revises internal and extramural grants, contracts, sub-contracts and service contracts.
Recommends decisions on budget allocations in accordance with protocols that includes renewals of grants, contracts, sub-contracts, service contracts and faculty appointments.
Approves payable charges to the grants and contracts. Meets with coordinators to discuss service contracts with hospitals or other outsides agencies.
Coordinates activities involving the departmental personnel records such as the preparation and maintenance of personnel forms, as well as, effort certification. (PIF, PD, Personnel Requisitions, Employment authorizations, volunteer appointments, faculty appointments, time approval, FMLA forms and VISA paperwork.)
Exercises signature authority for the Departments through the SAP and IRIS system which includes payroll, accounts payable documents, travel, pay funding changes, distribution changes, procurement cards statements, and paper documents required by payroll and/or finance.
Audits payroll changes for correct salary distribution.
Determines fund availability for expenditures (i.e., travel, supplies, equipment, etc.) in compliance with budget for each account by reviewing the payables.
Makes hiring, termination and discipline recommendations.
Supervises the employees in OB/GYN and serves as back up in Neurosurgery and Neurology.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: Two (2)years of experience with accounting, finance, business administration or healthcare administration; OR Master's Degree, one (1) year of experience withaccounting, finance, business administration or health care administration; OR a combination of education and relevant workexperience to equal ten (10) years. Some supervising experience ispreferred. Candidates must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, andhighly-organized, and have experience using online databases and otherresources. Ability to complete forms designed by UT for the purpose of Financeand Payroll. A solid understanding of budgets as related to proposals andgrants. Ability to understand UT policy as it related to documents,approvals of IRIS forms and payroll is preferred. Must have experiencewith Filemaker Pro, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Must have strong communicationskills (both written and verbal), must be able to prepare and editcommunication plans. Outstanding organization skills required. SAP andIRIS experience preferred. Experience in developing reports.
