JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Financial Coordinator coordinates all daily financial activities for the Department of Preventive Medicine, Radiation Oncology, and Physician Assistant Studies. This position works extensively with faculty and staff to perform financial duties including reconciliations, payroll, budget, and post-award administration.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with the review of restricted account expenses for timely reconciliations.

  • Reviews state and gift ledgers; identifies financial discrepancies and makes corrections.

  • Reviews and approves invoice payments in the financial system.

  • Prepares and submits transfer vouchers and cost transfers in IRIS.

  • Assists with yearly budgets and probable for recurring state accounts.

  • Monitors and reconciles bi-weekly/monthly payroll for accuracy and discrepancies.

  • Processes requisitions and NCJs, if applicable, for special purchases that contain restrictive terms and conditions; assists PIs with procuring sources.

  • Assists in the management of gift cards for participant incentives.

  • Serves as backup for Accounting Assistants, Financial Coordinator, and Administrative Coordinator.

  • Monitors and manages monthly grant expenditures to ensure compliance with appropriate guidelines, auditing, and regulations.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Administration, Accounting, Management, Organizational Management, or a related field of study. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of related experience; OR a combination of related college coursework and professional work experience to equal five (5) years.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficiency in Excel and Word.

  • Ability to read and proof documents for accuracy.

  • Ability to pay attention to detail and complete work accurately.

  • Superior knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping.

  • Ability to multi-task and complete assignments within identified deadlines.

  • Good interpersonal and writing skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with diverse personalities and customers.

WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
