Job Overview:
The Financial Coordinator position is a key position within the Rancho Santa Margarita Landscape and Recreation Corporation, a premier master-planned community often referred to as SAMLARC. The community is guided by a seven-person volunteer Board of Directors, all of whom live in the community. The SAMLARC team of over 20 associates provides the Board and homeowners with high-caliber customer service in several forms. It is dedicated to making SAMLARC one of the most desirable places to live in Orange County and Southern California.
Currently, SAMLARC is seeking a part-time financial coordinator. This position is scheduled for 30 hours weekly and reports directly to the Finance Manager. There is the potential for this position to become full-time in the future.
Compensation: $22-$25 an hour
FirstService Residential will compensate the successful candidate in accordance with the posted range. The salary or wage paid to the successful candidate will be commensurate with experience, education, and specific job responsibilities. For positions designated at a client's property, the salary or wage will also be premised upon the client's directive. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
Job Responsibilities:
The job duties listed are typical examples of the work performed by positions in this job classification. In addition to other responsibilities described within the job description for Financial Coordinator, the following specifically apply, with the potential assignment of additional related responsibilities.
A day in the life of the Financial Coordinator is mainly to support the team by providing exceptional customer service in handling inquiries about homeowner assessment accounts with SAMLARC. Examples include, but are not limited to:
Reviewing homeowner accounting ledgers for missed payments and/or the application of payments that were made and when
Enforcing or waiving fees as guidelines permit
Setting up a payment plan for a delinquent homeowner
Communication of value-added services for homeowners, such as enrollment in automatic payment options, the receipt of e-statements or to sign up on SAMLARC's website
Communication of necessary information to the applicable support team at FirstService Residential's Corporate Office in Irvine or others on the SAMLARC team
Required participation in select SAMLARC Community Lifestyle events that may occur on holidays or on weekends to include, but not limited to: Independence Day, Christmas Tree Lighting and the Annual Meeting/Election of Directors
Managing/Reconciling the petty cash boxes and miscellaneous cash receipts
Collection and reporting of staff credit card transactions
Updating foreclosure tracking documents
Approving payables and receivables
Prepare checks for deposit and coding to the General Ledger
Attend Budget and Cash Flow Committee meeting to take minutes (once per month)
Administrative accounting/finance tasks
Skills & Qualifications:
Strong customer service skills and background, including active listening

Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel, Word, Outlook and Explorer)

Adeptness at learning routine processes quickly
Positive, strong work ethic
Numerically inclined; understanding of basic bookkeeping/accounting
Basic understanding of accounting/resident management software (Jenark in particular) On the job training will be provided for all accounting and financial software.
