SUMMARY:

The Financial Controls Compliance Analyst assists the Director of Financial Controls Compliance in planning, coordinating and executing all aspects of the SOX compliance program and is responsible for guiding management in maintaining effective internal control over financial reporting

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree preferred

• 1 to 2 years of experience with increasing responsibility working in internal audit, finance, accounting or public accounting with a solid understanding of SOX, US GAAP, and internal control environments

• Active CPA or CIA certification, or willing to obtain within 18 months of hire date

• Significant knowledge of financial reporting processes, risk and controls within the financial services industry

• Strong organizational and analytical skills, able to work independently with minimal supervision, and meet deadlines

• Excellent computer skills

• Ability to follow through on complex or controversial items or procedures

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Participate in all required compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering training, as well as internal and external training programs, online training, meetings, and seminars/conferences

JOB FUNCTIONS

• Perform all assigned duties in a manner that reflects the highest professional standards

• Exhibit a strong understanding of business risks, controls, and testing methodologies as they relate to the auditing of financial reporting and SOX controls

• Support the SOX Director in the management of the ongoing annual and quarterly process, documentation and assessments for SOX 302, 404 and 906 compliance to include scoping, process walkthroughs and the assessment of control design and effectiveness

• Coordinate with business process owners to ensure internal controls and documentation (flowcharts and narratives) of key business processes are reviewed and updated within the SOX application (WDesk by Workiva) throughout the year as changes occur

• Provide support for key SOX stakeholders (process owners, Internal Audit, External Audit, and senior management)

• Manage outsourced internal audit support for SOX compliance efforts

• Support the quarterly sub-certification process

• Plan and coordinate SOX walkthroughs and testing performed by Internal and External Audit

• Oversee document repository and adherence to retention policies

• Maintain and publish a compliance calendar for all compliance efforts including testing and walkthroughs

• Moderate overnight travel from base location to other sites within the United Community footprint as required from time to time

• Other duties as assigned

POSITION TYPE

This is a full-time, exempt, professional position that requires schedule flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

TRAVEL

This position requires up to 5% travel.
