What will be your responsibilities within IBKR:

The Financial Control Associate will play a significant role in monitoring the Group's settlement ledgers and testing, operating and enhancing the Group's constantly evolving proprietary back-office systems. The analysis, escalation and resolution of settlement differences will be an ongoing responsibility. The ideal candidate will be able to interface seamlessly with various internal departments, counterparties and clearing organizations. The Financial Control Associate is expected to focus on automated solutions to complex problems of varying degrees. This position requires a highly organized, detail-oriented, analytical thinker who can quickly adapt to daily challenges and take on various responsibilities in a dynamic environment. Contributions to the automation of the department's functions will be highly valued.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Financial Control Manager, the Financial Control Associate will be responsible for the settlement reconciliations for client and proprietary trading of stock, options, futures, bonds, warrants, ETFs, FX and securities lending activity, and weekly and monthly reporting requirements.

The Group's proprietary systems automatically analyze, compare and match data based on numerous criteria. The Financial Control Associate will be expected to constantly evaluate systems and processes to identify inefficiencies and to interface with our software developers to recommend system improvements.

  • Daily reconciliation of proprietary and client settlements to the cash activity reported through the Group's external clearing banks and recorded to the General Ledger.

  • Investigation of all reconciling items and close interaction with the Group's clearing, corporate actions, and accounting departments to resolve them

  • Weekly and monthly reporting of outstanding differences

  • Dividend reconciliation from the General Ledger to our internal dividend system

  • Support various audit requests to ensure the Group's compliance with securities and financial regulations.

  • Operate the Group's proprietary Trade Settlement Reconciliation system.

  • Constantly evaluate systems and processes to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements.

Which skills are required:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited traditional 4-year college/university (minimum GPA: 3.0), preferably in accounting, mathematics or business

  • 0 - 2 years of experience in the financial services industry is preferred.

  • High comfort and fluency with computers and technology and understanding how technology is applied to business

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (MS Access and VBA experience is a plus)
