The role of the Financial Consultant (Registered Representative) is to establish long-term, value-added relationships with members by personally meeting with them to understand their financial needs and goals and to offer solutions for those needs and goals. This can be achieved by leveraging investment tools and resources while tracking changes in wealth and life circumstances; analyzing financial plan results; identifying and evaluating new financial strategies; recommending changes in goals and plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate strong relationships with members by consistently using the prescribed sales process.

  • Sell effectively by establishing relationships with members, finding their needs, and then offering appropriate solutions in a compelling way so the customer sees the value, understands the features and benefits, and purchased the solution.

  • Build customer loyalty by providing an exceptional experience through delivering trusted advice resulting in consolidation of assets and earn referrals.

  • Cultivate strong working relationships and trust among credit union staff by conducting regular training, attendance/participation at credit union staff meetings and functions and sending referrals back to the credit union.

  • Engage in relationship management activities so that relationships are nurtured, expanded, additional needs are met, and friends and relatives are freely referred.

  • Effectively implement/leverage technology and other available investment tools and resources to provide clients an exceptional member experience on a consistent basis.

  • Monitor client's financial situation by tracking changes in wealth and life circumstances; analyzing financial plan results; identifying and evaluating new financial strategies; recommending changes in goals and plans.

  • Pursue member feedback regarding their experience including the process and outcome.

  • Updates job knowledge by tracking financial markets, general economic conditions, and new financial products; participating in educational opportunities.

  • Engaging in activities that enable access to those members who may not frequently use the branch system.

Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in a business related field. Equivalent work experience beyond a high school diploma can be substituted for the Bachelor's degree requirement on a year-by-year basis. 3-5 years successful financial services sales experience; with a verifiable commission history of at least $120,000 in Gross Dealer Concessions.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • NASD Licenses Series 7, 63, and IAR (65/66 or appropriate designation) registrations.

  • New York State Insurance License.

  • NASD/FINRA background record check - Satisfactory

Essential Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of credit union products, services, policies, regulations, and procedures.

  • Knowledge of financial planning products and services, including an understanding of Securities and Exchange Commission and other governing rules and regulations.

  • Knowledge of insurance products and services, including an understanding of federal and state rules and regulations.

  • Product knowledge of investment, insurance, and retirement plans.

  • Leadership skills and displays traits of honesty, ethics, and team orientation.

  • Self-starter and ability to multi-task; organization and time management skills.

  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to quickly engage and connect, actively listen, empathize, ask questions, and respond in language that customers understand.
