Our Opportunity:

The Finance Data Analytics team is a cross-functional team combining finance and technical data analytics skillsets that overlaps the Management Reporting and Profitability & Analysis-Data teams within the Finance organization. We support our finance partners, senior leaders and Board of Directors with ongoing reporting needs, ad-hoc data requests, business intelligence solutions, and advanced data analytics. In addition, we work closely with our technology partners to standardize metric ownership and definitions, identify needs for self-service tools, and develop processes to re-engineer outputs.

The Finance Data Analytics team is looking for a highly motivated, self-driven individual well versed in financial services data and business analytics. The Business Intelligence Analyst will support the centralization of reporting and analytical solutions across Finance, be involved in the development and deployment of business intelligence solutions for our finance partners, and support Management Reporting with any ad-hoc needs that may arise through the course of business. The ideal candidate will have a good mix of technical and finance skills.

What you'll do:

  • Develop and deploy business intelligence solutions using tools such as Tableau, Microsoft Power BI and SSAS

  • Create, schedule and maintain a variety of reports that leverage Schwab's various data sources

  • Respond to ad-hoc data needs with on the fly database queries using SQL

  • Extract useful information and analytical insights from data and provide high-level recommendations to finance partners

  • Assist with guiding our service model from reactive data pulls to proactive self-service information and insight

  • Validate the translation of business requirements into technical criteria, negotiating deadlines and scope

  • Act as a thought partner with business users

  • Assist with ad hoc requests and projects (i.e. research, presentations, etc.)

  • Support Management Reporting with various reporting needs

What you have:

  • Strong analytical skills with a natural tendency to derive insights from data, spot issues with data, and the resourcefulness to find solutions and overcome barriers

  • Communication skills centered on explaining complicated information to both technical and non-technical partners

  • Enthusiasm and detail-driven, quality and results-focused, inquisitive, and influential

  • A strong understanding of relational databases and architecture

  • Solid and current understanding of corporate finance, accounting, and financial reporting and planning principles and concepts

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Information Systems or related field

  • 3+ years of technical experience in business intelligence and development of automated reports, dashboards, self-service tools, SQL, OLAP, etc.

  • Brokerage and/or financial services industry experience (a major plus)

  • Effective self-management skills, in particular, the ability to multitask and prioritize
