Financial Analyst/Scrap Accountant

Overview

SDI Long Products Division, Steel of West Virginia is expanding and adding a position for a Financial Analyst/Scrap Accountant.

This position will be responsible for analyzing both financial and operational data, managing scrap metal inventory, posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, preparing reports, and other duties as identified by the Accounting Supervisor and Controller.

Responsibilities

• Analysis of financial and non-financial information to actionable insights and potential for improvement.

• Management of scrap and raw materials inventory.

• Reconciling general and subledger accounts by gathering and balancing information.

• Maintain accounting controls by following policies and procedures in addition to complying with federal, state, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

• Work intra-departmentally to help in analysis of actual results vs. plan.

• Support various accounting, purchasing and inventory functions, as needed.

• Prepare and analyze weekly / monthly / quarterly financial reports for Plant Management.

• Special projects and additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience and public accounting experience preferred.

• High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team with excellent interpersonal skills.

• Ability to execute and follow-through to completion and documentation.

• Dedication to minor details and ensuring accuracy of all work products.

• Exceptional and proven verbal and written communication skills, with all levels of management.

• Experience with ERP or accounting software preferred but not required.
